🦷 - Jane Asher

She’s alright! I love that she wasn’t taking shit from Paul, didn’t just marry him straight away cause he was ~paul mccartney~, had her own aspirations and life, was intelligent, and fucking broke up with HIM because they just weren’t right for each other in the end. Bit of a legend :)

I don’t know whether or not Paul genuinely loved her (in a mature sense at least), but I think the depth of his emotions for her were deeper then some people appear believe. In my opinion, there was actual kinship, care and shared intellectual discussion between the two, and that Paul was in fact actually really distraught about the breakup - at the same time though, I don’t think that she’s the true love of his life or anything; I think they were just two twenty-something year olds who dated, and hopefully learnt something and became wiser from their relationship.

EDIT: forgot to add as well that I appreciate that she hasn’t used Pauls fame to further her own career for the past 50 years. Like she hasn’t bitched about him to the papers or anything - she’s classy, she’s cool, she’s jane fuckin’ asher

GROOVY I like to attend town hall meetings! It's nice to talk face-to-face with the people who represent me!

Do you think you'd like to get started attending your own local town meeting? Here are some tips for you! (alt text is also written out underneath the cut)

Are you someone who wants to express your thoughts not only to your representatives, but others in your community? Loves an excuse to go out to an in–person gathering of people? Want to have friends by your side to support your point as you make your case? Try going to a Town Meeting!

TIPS

Be Prepared! Have your Pitch ready! Know what the meeting is about!

Get Personal! How has a policy impacted you? How could it potentially impact you or others you know?

Paint the Bigger Picture! What is the wider impact of this policy? If you have the statistics to back you up, cite them!

Enlist Allies! Have others join you in the meeting to emphasize you’re not alone in having these thoughts!

Be Respectful! Passion is your ally, but remember your aim is also to build or strengthen relationships to support future dialogues with policymakers!

NETWORKING BASICS

Talk to the Staff! This is an opportunity to build a relationship with someone who has the Senator's ear!

Leave Paper! Have your business card or pamphlets with the talking points listed out, and leave copies with others!

Follow up Politely! After the meeting, send an email or call to thank them for their time!

Be Persistent! Keep showing up!

Even the smallest stone thrown can create a Ripple!

All of the advice in here is written with the USA political system in mind. There may be some crossover with other countries, but not all advice is applicable.

This guide was made with the best of my ability with references I found online. Please use this guide as a first step to further research from actual professionals.

Remember: taking even the smallest of actions is more effective then just reading about it. Taking that first step can be scary, especially if it’s a new experience for you, but it is worth it.

GROOVY I love digging through vintage magazines! My uncle has an amazing collection of old MAD Magazines that I'm still working through!

GIRLY Weather it's an ebook I checked out from my local library or the latest webtoons episode, I love to read on the go with my tablet!

GOTH NERD I'm an old fashioned book reader! I love holding the physical book in my hands!

SPORTY I find I have a hard time sitting still just to focus purely on reading. That's why I like audio books so much; it lets me multitask!
