Groundbuster

the RID line of Transformers ended months ago, but you can still find the remains of the line in the stores. I figured, what the heck, I’ll pick up Groundbuster.

I have very little to say about this legends class figure of Groundbuster other than I’m disappointed Hasbro didn't deem him worthy of a deluxe class toy.

We’ve seen construction vehicles before in Transformers, but Groundbuster is unique and fun.

His transformation is very simple, but it’s his robot mode which really sets him apart from most other bots.

He has a gorilla body type with the short legs, and the right arm being the excavator shovel and the left just being part of the cab section.

Its a cool, and fun little legends class toy, which deserves to be bigger.

The next round of Hasbro’s Transformers: Robots in Disguise figures is due to come along soon, and thanks to ToyWiz we’ve got fresh looks at a few of the figures we’ll hopefully be seeing within a few weeks. Check out Legion Class Bisk, Groundbuster, Warrior Class Blizzard Strike Autobot Drift (try saying that ten times fast!), and Quillfire. The card art for these guys is looking pretty great, we’d say!

I was looking at the set of Tailgate and Groundbuster when I thought to myself that everyone bought this set for Tailgate. Nobody saw Groundbuster and said "that one there will be my baby."

This saddens me.

Groundbuster, he who was once named Neutro, you will be my baby and I will craft so many goddamn headcanons around you that you WILL BECOME THE STUFF OF LEGEND

Tailgate & Groundbuster

Tailgate's old quirky Budiansky bio ("Let my fellow mechanical beings go!") was always one of my favorites - the idea of a Transformer believing that Earth machines were sentient is hilarious and endearing to me. But it wasn't ever meaningfully explored in fiction. 

And, perhaps, it never will be - the modern iteration of Tailgate in MTMTE is known for other traits. But I have no reason to complain. IDW Tailgate is a well-written, well-fleshed out character, as opposed to the more one-note quirk of the old-school bio. 

Oh and he comes with an update to an old Micromaster. Neat!
