Shoutout to Group Critique Fight Club!

last week, i decided to submit my single to get some final critique on it before i send it for mastering and actually release it out into the world... when it does come out, it will be my first single in the album cycle for my debut album!

and i'm so glad that i did it! i got some solid advice, and someone finally held my hand and said it: the genre of my music is indie rock. i thought i wasn't allowed to claim that, since i am a solo project, but peretsky said it, not me! and i tend to believe him on matters of music. thanks for the warm welcome, GCFC!

//Unit 13: Thanatophobia//. -Today in Dan's lesson, we completed another group critique, this time focusing on problem solving. I assessed the work of @sophierender, and she assessed my work. We gave eachother considered feedback on what went well, and where to improve. -From Sophie's feedback, I've decided that I need to assess my work up to date in order to see evidence of problem solving for this work, and keep up this standard of work, ensuring that problem solving is evident and key creative decisions are being recorded. -These group critiques are very useful as it gives us time to focus on particular assessment criteria, and get another opinion from our own and our tutors. It also allows us to see other pupils work and gain inspiration or ideas from them.

//Unit 13: Thanatophobia//. -Today in Dan's lesson, we completed another group critique, this time focusing on the research within our projects. I received mostly positive feedback from Poppy and Sophie, with some improvements mentioned, though I don't feel that all of these are applicable (e.g., referencing more sources such as books or videos when I have already done so). From this session, I can see that I need to visit an art gallery, though my intentions for when are the same as previously; I will visit a gallery during April/May, when considering how I will display my final work, as this research will be more relevant then. I also need to continue reflecting on and evaluating my work in order to push ideas further. These group critiques are helpful to us as we can get another opinion on our work, as well as seeing what our peers are doing.

Group Critique / Tutorial

After going through my ideas with my peers on subject tutor I have decided that I will create my project based on the British seaside. I intend for my project to promote the great British seaside through graphic design. I have chosen this as when looking at my ideas and considering my strengths and interests this would be the strongest idea to take forward into unit 13 as it would result in a more varied range of outcomes

Group work throughout project

With the use of group work in this project, I have been able to quickly reflect and take on advise from my peers, gaining valuable criticism of my work and also helping others critique their work. I found that group sessions really helped throughout and allowed me to concentrate on creating more designs and leaving the tweaking for after a group critique.

Summative Assessment Day

Today I exhibited all the work I have produced since the beginning of the year for a group critique. Although i was partially nervous to the idea of comparing the amount of work we had all done, i was so pleased to get some critical feedback to help extend my work even further. It made me learn to trust myself and to not be as scared to experiment, not everything will be pieces of art therefore there is no need to be overly precious!

It was also great to see how everyone brings something different to the table and how we can see peoples personalities and individual styles in their work.
