Looking for the group’s wisdom
How do you handle the discrepancy between what you want to do for a patient and what you are able to give? No one goes into the health professions to push paper or count numbers, we all want to make a difference in our patients’ lives. Institutions, though, are all about the numbers and making money. Is there a way to make this work for us while we wait for the (SLOOOOOOOOW) change in culture to take place?
In particular, the things I’m thinking about are along the lines of - I love the work I’m doing for my patients and I can make a huge difference in their lives, but my hospital is making me kick them out to make room for the next patient. How can I deal with this anger and hopelessness in a healthy way?
