Et Cetera (And other things)
Title: Et Cetera (And other things) Author: Haddie Rating: G Fandom: SHINee Pairing: Jonghyun/Kibum (Key) Word Count: 414 Summary: "The minute we're born, we're dying." Notes: I think I'm going to continue this (not sure yet though).
“The minute we’re born,” Kibum begins, walking towards his lunch table, “we’re dying. I don’t see why you bother putting up with it all.”
Jonghyun stares at Kibum’s now retreating figure and feels a sense of urgency overwhelm him,
“Wait!” He calls quickly without much thought.
Kibum turns slowly, quirking a brow when he looks at Jonghyun waiting for him continue. Jonghyun blinks, unsure of what to say and that itself bothers him. Kim Jonghyun was known for his smooth talk and rambunctious personality. It wasn’t like him to not know what to say but then here was not knowing how to do just that. He shouldn’t even be talking to Kibum, the boy that no one spoke to. The thing was, Kibum intrigued Jonghyun, intrigued him to the point that he couldn’t help it and curiosity got the best of him. So Jonghyun tracked him down and stopped him while he was heading to lunch—Kibum only looked at him, eyes confused, wondering why Jonghyun of all people was speaking to him. He had asked the boy if he was lost and Jonghyun had shook his head no, stating that he just wanted to talk. From there, the conversation only went downwards.
And that was how Jonghyun was stuck in the situation he was in at this moment, racking his brain for something—anything. But Kibum had a way of making him lose his mind and he didn’t even know what to say, to do.
“If you’re done, you can stop embarrassing yourself by talking to my kind.”
Jonghyun blinks out of his thoughts and feels his jaw slacken, mouth opening wide,
“What?”
Kibum smiles tightly,
“I’ve heard you and your friends talk,” he begins walking back towards Jonghyun, “I know what you guys think about guys like me,” he glares, stopping an arm’s length away, “that we’re dirty, disgusting fags that deserve to freaking die.” He spits out venomously.
Kibum takes a breath, closing his eyes as if he was trying to compose himself,
“And you what the funny thing is?” He asks softly.
Jonghyun swallows loudly, “What?”
“You aren’t any different.”
Kibum stares at Jonghyun, waiting for him to say something, to agree, to disagree—anything. But Jonghyun does none of those, he does what he does best, he blinks away all that he’s feeling and walks away.
Kibum stares blankly at the vacant space that Jonghyun was only moments ago standing in, ignoring the sting in his heart, pretending that it doesn't hurt.
