Beautiful + Exotic Pride of Barbados 🌿 Swipe to see how I grow them from seed + + I collected the seeds from my p.o.b. last Summer, and there was an abundance of seed pods. I collected a whole envelope full + + The pods grow straight out of the center of the flower and will turn brown and hard when they are ready to harvest + + Simply bust open the pod and collect the seeds. They look like little corn kernels to me + + When I'm ready to germinate the seeds, i scratch the surface with a nail file or sand paper and soak them in warm water for 24hrs. (This isn't necessary, but it helps and all my seeds sprouted) + + Then I put the soaked seeds in a wet coffee filter and then inside a baggie. I don't seal the bag, just close it, but leave the top open for oxygen + + I leave the baggie outside in my covered patio or in a bright window and wait to see the first sign of life + + I started my seeds on Sept 10 and within 3 or 4 days, they were already sprouting. After they sprout i put them in small pots of good rich starter soil (root side down, seed side up) and watched them grow into new baby pride of Barbados + + They are super easy to grow from seed and one of the most beautiful and unique flowers I've seen + + #prideofbarbados #colorfulflowers #tropicalflowers #exoticflowers #vibrantflowers #beautifulflowerseveryday #germinating #propagatingplants #growingroots #gardenjournal #gardeninglove #organicgardener #suburbangarden #backyardgardener #gardeninglove #gardenblogger #grownfromseed #natureinthecity #igerstexas #natureistherapy #sanantonioblogger #bohemiansoul #bohotribe #godscreations #natureisamazing #texaslife #goodtexasliving #texasgramers #txblogger #gardenersofig https://www.instagram.com/p/B76-m0enREU/?igshid=1r6uuu29iq4xi
