Admired Grumpy Bucky X sunshine reader
It was no secret around the compound that Bucky Barnes was grumpy. Not necessarily angry or mad just grumpy. He was just one of those people that expected disappointment knowing if he did, he will never be disappointed. He has been here for three months, and the avengers decided that he needs lighten up. Not in a mean way of course it's just they want their friend to be happy.
Steve, Sam, Nat, Bruce, and Tony were all sitting in the kitchen just chatting eating a nice breakfast before there day starts. When Bucky grudgingly shuffles in a signature scowl plastered on his face. "Hey Buck, you want to join." Steve immediately asks in a chipper tone. Bucky looks at him and tries to give him a smile, but it kind of comes put as a disgust kind of look. So instead, he just briefly nods and sits down, not looking anyone in the eye.
As they all keep chatting, they hear humming coming from down the hall and coming closer. "Mm hungry eyes.... I look at you and I can't disguise." They didn't even need to know who it was. They all knew it was Y/n walking down the hall singing a tune like always. Y/n was the polar opposite of Bucky she was happy, and always positive. She went through troubles with hydra to, but she was an experiment. a mutant that they created.
Bucky always admired her. He admired her beauty her loving nature. Well to be fair anything that had to do with Y/n he admired. As she got her smoothie together singing a 'hungry eye' dancing a little as she got the ingredients around. Just living in her own world. That was Y/n she lived in her imagination.
The team stopped what they were saying and watched Bucky. He had a smile on his face watching Y/n. Bucky was smiling, actually smiling. At Y/n! Bucky watched her so intently the way her hair got into her face as she danced. watched as her smile etched to the corners of her face. watched as the creases of the edge of her eyes crinkled. Watched as small giggles erupted whenever she messed up the words.
Y/n turned around to meet with the group and locked eyes with Bucky. "Hi, Buck how are you" She asked hopefully that he was having a good day. Y/n got upset when she saw Bucky having a bad time. All she wanted to do was make him happy. "I'm better now doll, how are you?" The team watched in wonder as Y/s's smile got bigger.
"I am doing fantastic thank you for asking." Y/n turned to leave before she turned back around locking eyes back with Bucky. "Oh, and before I forget I got you a new book I think you might enjoy. It's from J.R.R Tolkien so I thought you would enjoy it." Bucky heart melted; butterflies flew in his stomach. 'Sounds great doll, I'll pick it up after breakfast if that's ok." She nodded excitedly and walked out not before she shouted bye to everyone.
"What was that?" Nat asked smirking, Bucky face scrunched in confusion, "What?" "You just turned to mush whenever pooh bear over there walked in." Tony deadpanned, "so?" They were all taken back at this. I mean anyone would you don't just admit when you turn to mush at the sight of someone right? "Do you have feelings for Y/n? Steve asked putting a hand on Bucky's shoulder "Of course I do I'm not exactly hiding it."
Silence filled the air then a string of 'asks her out's' came up. Bucky just shook his head cleaning off his plate and about to leave to go read with Y/n when Sam stopped him. With a hand on Bucky's shoulder Sam came close and said, "If you hurt that little sun ray I swear to God, I will kill you." he deadpanned Bucky then turned serious. Hurt Y/n it was laughable. "Never"
