Hi! I was wondering if you've watched new Aladdin trailer. I'm really curious what you think (:
Did they release a new trailer? If they did, I haven’t seen it because I’m not supporting that movie anyways. I hope it flops lol. And I know people are gonna say “but if live action Aladdin flops then it’s gonna tell Hollywood that films with South Asian rep don’t sell.” I disagree. I think it’ll tell Hollywood “we can half-ass our representation because people of color will show up anyways.” We need to have higher standards.
Obviously not giving that movie my money is my personal choice, and I know a lot of my desi friends and mutuals are making the same choice. If anyone wants to watch it, do whatever you want with your money, I don’t care. I’m just saying that I’m tired of settling for the bare minimum so I won’t go see it when it comes out in theaters.
This time I'd like to take some time and appreciate Allie, @okayokaycoolcoolcool, it's sort of thank you post. She was the first blog that I discovered in B99 and in a way she "introduced" me in the Fandom (aka she followed me when no one else did) and I'm forever grateful.
