Time is running out, but for who, and on what scale?
ok cmrn wins this round... this was pretty good
[ID: As Chen Kuan-Hsing has argued, imperialization takes place not only in the colonies but within the empire itself, where national subjects must continuously be “imperialized” to think of themselves as endowed with the responsibilities deserving of empire. Like gamers, subjects of this empire are not really supposed to follow the instructions but to practice a form of freedom based on a meaningless gesture of adolescent rebellion, a disobedience where risk is deferred into distant places (in the imperial provinces), distant times (the slow warming of the Earth), and unlikely scenarios (the election of a reality television clown to US president). end ID]

just saw ur brecht post + if ur interested in that kinda thing i wld recommend augusto boal’s theatre of the oppressed !! has a whole essay abt aristotle + brecht + catharsism, plus a lot of other stuff abt the Function Of Art and capitalism and how theatre fits into it (even if theatre isn’t rlly ur thing i think it’s interesting across for all art)
oh interesting! i will look this up <3 yeah im def interested in theater, i just meant more that ive never studied it either in school or in the course of my own research! one of the coolest parts about gssb is that one of the hosts is a scholar of drama and he provides really insightful comments about the linkages between games and theater as forms. i have a book on lukacs and brecht on my shelf so first i may see if that can be of any help but boal sounds like a really useful direction to go in as well. ty : )

game studies podcast finally referencing hauntology >:) michael game studies saying it's a mode of analysis that, in any given historical moment, brings to the forefront "all the moves that could have been made but weren't and all the moves that still can be made but won't be".... exactly
