drinking buddies; gwen&theo
It’s not that Gwen has a problem drinking with her boss—truth be told, he’s one of the funner people to drink with around these parts—it’s just that she’s never gone out drinking with Theo when something’s clearly bugging him.
She doesn’t need to be a detective to know that; hearing Norah’s muffled shouting in the office earlier proved that. Then there’s the whole fact that she left while he stayed to close with her.
She didn’t know what to do—so she invited him out to drink with her tonight. Did she think she he was going to say yes? Not really. She also didn’t think he’d go past drink number three for the night, but here they are.
Gwen can’t keep looking over at the bar, seeing Casey smiling with Val as the two of them move like naturals, so in sync with each other that if she didn’t know Casey wasn’t her type she’d definitely be jealous. Christ, she’s a mess.
Just like the guy sitting across from her, it seems. She reaches for her drink, takes a sip, and then places it down next to the pretzels they had gotten for the table. “So...are you just going to sit here brooding and drinking?” she asks Theo. “Because it’s kind of scary seeing you like this.”
