Journal Entry #3
What I learned?
I learned a lot during ESP 10. Eight months have passed, but I could never forget the valuable lessons I got from it. First is to always believe in your life's worth. You have to value it. We often feel like our life is meaningless, but it's not. Life can get rough, but you still have to see the good in every endeavor you're facing because for as long as you choose to do morally good things you will always end up overcoming all the obstacles in life. We should never doubt God's plan for us because everything will be clear for as long as you trust Him. Do not get carried away when others try to bring you down, because you deserve all the happiness in life. You might not see it now, but your life has a purpose. You just have to be patient in discovering it within yourself because self-fulfillment does not come easy, you have to work hard for it. Trust the process. I always keep in mind my favorite quote which tells me that I am going to be dead for a long time, so I have to make the most out of it in the short time I have to live. I was really amazed when I first read it because it totally made sense to me. Why do I really have to constrict myself to the happiness that life is offering? For as long as you know that you're not affecting other people, you're entitled of your own pleasure.
Secondly, I learned that keeping a good relationship with our creator must be one of our goals in life. Everything that we have right now is because of Him. He guides us and bless us with all the good things in life. Therefore, it is just right to thank and remember Him always. God only wants the best for us; however, we tend to misinterpret it sometimes because we do not get contented of the things we have. We seem to be wanting more than what's enough, which is unhealthy. We should live life just like how God would want us to. We should uphold the right morals and values He teaches us. By doing good, we are able to repay Him with everything that He gave us. By doing good, we are able to show and prove that we are deserving of His love and care.
Lastly, I learned the essence of valuing our country or Patriotism as we always call it. We have the responsibility to show love and respect for our country. Of all people, we should be the ones proud of our country. If no one will appreciate it, then who will? My country, Philippines, is not perfect and I know that. That's why the more we should show our support and love for it. Instead of trying to get ourselves fit in the western world, why don't we learn to appreciate our own? Let's eat more Filipino foods, buy more Filipino clothes, listen more to Filipino songs, and be more like an authentic Filipino. We should be proud of our own country. Let us not wait until the time comes that no one will be interested in our country's pride. As long as you're still alive and kicking, do whatever you can do to show that you are proud of being a Filipino.
How do I apply these lessons in my life?
By merely instilling them in my heart and mind. And then, I could start practicing them until it becomes a habit for me. Honestly, I'm already aware of these lessons, it's just that I get distracted and forget my responsibilities as a person. That's why I am trying to make myself better. I am in the process of accepting myself and living my life just the way I deserve it. I always tell myself not to forget to filter all the things I do in life because I try to make sure that everything that I'll be doing is for the common good. I am proud to say that I have a really cool relationship with God right now. I may forget to pray sometimes, but I always make it up to Him. God is like my diary, I get to tell Him everything, and I'm thankful for that. I might be far from my home country, but I still make sure to support it in all the ways I could. I am proud of being a Filipino. I love our culture. I love the food, the music, the places, the clothes, and of course the GOOD PEOPLE. Sadly, I am loving it from afar. I really can't wait to go back home and try all these things. I'm not perfect, and I know that, but I strive to become a better person each day. And I will not stop until I could honestly say that I'm proud of what I've become.
