Things had gotten rough for a bit there. Ludger had been off on multiple missions back to back, Alvin had been busy with his mercenary work. They were only just getting settled back in. And while Ludger wanted to celebrate being home after so much...using his cybernetics excessively in the field had him worn out and just needing a nap.
But he jolted when he heard Alvinâs voice and managed to sit up and not look so out of it. Ludgerâs eyes settled on something in Alvinâs hand though - a rose. He felt heat creep up his cheeks and a goofy smile spread across his face. After all the missions and all the time apart...
Well...
This was great to come home to.
âThanks, Alvin...itâs beautiful.â Ludgerâs voice was soft when he spoke. âWhere should we put it, hm?â
Itâd been a year since his fall, his disappearance and his âdemiseâ. They thought he was dead, and he too thought he was a goner. Yet the bird perched upon his shoulder, reading the text of the book with curiosity akin to his own is responsible. Yet his existence is bitter, Jude didnât know if the others were alive. If they remembered..
If they even cared..
Damaged legs hidden by the dark trousers stretch as pain courses in his veins. Sitting in the position under that tree always caused pain, his body wasnât what it once was. Monsters hide, afraid of what stayed by his side. His blissful state is interrupted, as ambers meet eyes that once stared at him with gun in hand. Wanting him gone..
He knows those eyes, better than he knows himself...
A different kind of pressure (Closed thread for guard-breaker)
âWho wouldâve thought this was so expensive....â He sighed lightly, it wasnât his money he was spending since Ratio asked him to run some errands, but he had to look at the price tag of the rodent tablets that were for the older doctorâs pet rat. Maybe it was because Ratio was picky and wanted him to go this pet shop that only provided a certain brand.Â
The young apprentice glanced down the isle where there were similar types of feed for different breeds of animals, âMaybe I should get something for Lechuga too...âÂ
Once he got the final selections and bought the items, he tied the plastic bag in a couple knots so he could hook it on two of his fingers. He had a bit of a trek back to the clinic, maybe he could take a coffee break before heading home seeing as he had another late shift?
Glitch screaming into the comms immediately alerted Ludger that there was something very wrong with the mission. He teleported out of the pit, eyes settling on the tall, slender figure that was juxtaposed against the sand. Purple. Devil. Julian.
His mind switched into overdrive. Julian was here. He launched straight at him, going straight for the throat. His father had warned him to not do something stupid, he had warned him if Julian showed up that he wasnât to do something rash.
And here he was, doing something rash.
His claws sank into the older devilâs chest, raking against it and trying to do the most amount of damage that he could. There were no words, just angry shrieks as he tried to kill the man that had imprisoned him in the Abyss for three years.
Julian wasnât having any of it, his eyes glowing bright orange before pillars of earth and fire burst from the ground. Ludger screamed, his claws digging into the other devil further. He was not letting go. He wanted to hurt him just as much as Julian had hurt him.
More biting and clawing, more of whatever he could do to damage the other. It wasnât doing anything but he didnât care, he didnât care at all. He was too angry to care.
He felt something grab onto him, his claws digging deeper into Julianâs flesh. But he wasnât strong enough, whatever was pulling was strong and he went flying back to the rest of the group.
A moment later, Julian was flying up into the sky and Ludger was desperately trying to follow after him. Â There were strong arms around his waist, holding him in place.
âLudger! Calm down!âÂ
He snarled at Alvin, thrashing against his hold, he was not going to calm down. Didnât they get it? Didnât they understand what that devil had done to him?? He needed to something. He couldnât sit here and do nothing.Â
âLet me go! Let me go!â He tried to kick, but Alvin had him off the ground.
The sky went dark, lightning raining down on them. It hard, gods it hurt, but he was still ready to fly into the night and go after Julian. Â Even though he couldnât sense him anymore.
âYouâre going to have to tell me what that guy did...â
He let out a low snarl. â...no.â
Ludger couldnât tell what Julian had done to him...not yet. Not when he was only six months out from what had happened. Â The mind didnât forget three years in the Abyss.
_______________
Ludger fidgeted in front of the mirror. Elize and Charles were  out. He had a little bit of time to calm himself. Heâd completely lost his control when faced with Julian. Heâd lost track of himself. Heâd done what he wasnât supposed to do.
He let the glamours down, staring at the scarring on his wrists. He needed to accept this. This was him. These scars were part of him. He needed to accept this.
He let out a slow breath as he stared at them. They werenât shameful, they showed that heâd endured, that he was strong enough to make it out.
But they still made him feel weak, scared, like he was damaged. A visible marker of what Julian had done to him, how heâd changed.
A knock on the door jolted Ludger from his thoughts, the young devil teleported over to the door. Â He opened it a moment later, blinking in confusion when he saw Alvin standing there. He hadnât really expected the older devil, especially since he wasnât sure the other knew where he lived. Not that it was a secret, but still.
He was surprised.
âOh, hi Alvin.â He opened the door all the way.
âHey Ludger. Just wanted to check in, see how my new teammate was doing.â An easygoing smile was on his face. Though his eyes drifted toward Ludgerâs exposed wrist. The smile faded slightly, his eyes settling back on Ludgerâs.
It took him a moment to realize he handât put his glamours back on. He hastily returned them, quickly looking down. â...please forget that you saw those...â
âHow the hell...Ludger, what happened...?â
Ludger couldnât speak for a moment. â...thatâs part of what Julian did. Please donât make me talk about it more.â He couldnât look up, he wasnât really ready to talk about that yet.Â
â...holy shit.âÂ
There was silence for a few moments and Ludger was only aware that Alvin was there since 1.) he could see his feet and 2.) he could still sense him.
â...Iâm doing ok though.â He finally managed to speak, tentatively looking up at the taller devil. He was expecting pity, or judgment, but there was just anger and something a bit softer.
âGood, Iâm glad. Hey, want to get something to eat?â Alvinâs smile was back. âMy treat. Whaddya say?â
Another almost nervous look, but a slight, small smile was playing on Ludgerâs lips. âIâd really like that.â
It wasnât uncommon for Basilisk to have to check in on the various mercenaries that Karmic Sense employed, but it was one of the more annoying duties of his job.  In this case, he was checking on a smarmy merc who was supposed to be dragging Ludger Will Kresnik back to Karmic Sense.
He strode up to the rendezvous point and waited. He had a physical description of this Alvin, so he was watching for him. Â He just hoped that the merc would have the good sense to be on time rather than late.
Basiliskâs time was valuable and he had a lot of things to get done...Â
