Glitch screaming into the comms immediately alerted Ludger that there was something very wrong with the mission. He teleported out of the pit, eyes settling on the tall, slender figure that was juxtaposed against the sand. Purple. Devil. Julian.

His mind switched into overdrive. Julian was here. He launched straight at him, going straight for the throat. His father had warned him to not do something stupid, he had warned him if Julian showed up that he wasn’t to do something rash.

And here he was, doing something rash.

His claws sank into the older devil’s chest, raking against it and trying to do the most amount of damage that he could. There were no words, just angry shrieks as he tried to kill the man that had imprisoned him in the Abyss for three years.

Julian wasn’t having any of it, his eyes glowing bright orange before pillars of earth and fire burst from the ground. Ludger screamed, his claws digging into the other devil further. He was not letting go. He wanted to hurt him just as much as Julian had hurt him.

More biting and clawing, more of whatever he could do to damage the other. It wasn’t doing anything but he didn’t care, he didn’t care at all. He was too angry to care.

He felt something grab onto him, his claws digging deeper into Julian’s flesh. But he wasn’t strong enough, whatever was pulling was strong and he went flying back to the rest of the group.

A moment later, Julian was flying up into the sky and Ludger was desperately trying to follow after him.  There were strong arms around his waist, holding him in place.

“Ludger! Calm down!” 

He snarled at Alvin, thrashing against his hold, he was not going to calm down. Didn’t they get it? Didn’t they understand what that devil had done to him?? He needed to something. He couldn’t sit here and do nothing. 

“Let me go! Let me go!” He tried to kick, but Alvin had him off the ground.

The sky went dark, lightning raining down on them. It hard, gods it hurt, but he was still ready to fly into the night and go after Julian.  Even though he couldn’t sense him anymore.

“You’re going to have to tell me what that guy did...”

He let out a low snarl. “...no.”

Ludger couldn’t tell what Julian had done to him...not yet. Not when he was only six months out from what had happened.  The mind didn’t forget three years in the Abyss.

Ludger fidgeted in front of the mirror. Elize and Charles were  out. He had a little bit of time to calm himself. He’d completely lost his control when faced with Julian. He’d lost track of himself. He’d done what he wasn’t supposed to do.

He let the glamours down, staring at the scarring on his wrists. He needed to accept this. This was him. These scars were part of him. He needed to accept this.

He let out a slow breath as he stared at them. They weren’t shameful, they showed that he’d endured, that he was strong enough to make it out.

But they still made him feel weak, scared, like he was damaged. A visible marker of what Julian had done to him, how he’d changed.

A knock on the door jolted Ludger from his thoughts, the young devil teleported over to the door.  He opened it a moment later, blinking in confusion when he saw Alvin standing there. He hadn’t really expected the older devil, especially since he wasn’t sure the other knew where he lived. Not that it was a secret, but still.

He was surprised.

“Oh, hi Alvin.” He opened the door all the way.

“Hey Ludger. Just wanted to check in, see how my new teammate was doing.” An easygoing smile was on his face. Though his eyes drifted toward Ludger’s exposed wrist. The smile faded slightly, his eyes settling back on Ludger’s.

It took him a moment to realize he hand’t put his glamours back on. He hastily returned them, quickly looking down. “...please forget that you saw those...”

“How the hell...Ludger, what happened...?”

Ludger couldn’t speak for a moment. “...that’s part of what Julian did. Please don’t make me talk about it more.” He couldn’t look up, he wasn’t really ready to talk about that yet. 

“...holy shit.” 

There was silence for a few moments and Ludger was only aware that Alvin was there since 1.) he could see his feet and 2.) he could still sense him.

“...I’m doing ok though.” He finally managed to speak, tentatively looking up at the taller devil. He was expecting pity, or judgment, but there was just anger and something a bit softer.

“Good, I’m glad. Hey, want to get something to eat?” Alvin’s smile was back. “My treat. Whaddya say?”

Another almost nervous look, but a slight, small smile was playing on Ludger’s lips. “I’d really like that.”
