I heard G-pig was starved for Wolfgang, and that it had been far too long since I'd posted the boy. Have some self indulgent sketches of Wolfgang, and me throwing myself at his feet begging forgiveness.
Magus is an amateur magician, and he’s sort of a fan of Maxwell. He’s from modern times! Like, around 2000-10.
He wanted to be a successful magician, but no one seems to like card tricks, pulling rabbits out of hats, or floating people any more.
He’s a real fan of classic magicians, and he’s tried to bring back an interest in it by doing performances on his own.
He’s doing poorly, until he finds an old antique radio that talks to him in his grandmothers house (He’s living with her at the time, since she’s in San Francisco, a great place to get a start in show business). It tells him it can show him tricks that the old classics used to do. Like, “ Have you ever wanted to know how the classics did it? Read all about it!”
And for a while, whenever he’d be around that radio he’d find articles, and pictures in a box that was next to the radio. He’d be sort of confused that he’d keep finding stuff in the box, but he’d chalk it up to not seeing it clearly in the dark attic.
He’d be inspired by Maxwell’s work, and even decide on a new name after seeing that William Carter changed his name to Maxwell the Magnificent. So Magus changed his name from Waiden, to Magus! He insisted that people call him that from then on because he’s sure that a persona is one of the key factors in being successful in show business. (His grandmother would still call him Waiden though.)
For a while, things seem normal, Magus occasionally goes up into the attic to read about Maxwell, and practices. By then, he’s set up lights in the attic, and has taken to practicing up there.
It’s on the day that he’s gotten a showing that he goes off to perform. It’s at a multi-act show. After he performs, he’s told he should just go home. The audience had liked it, but the director’s felt that it was too plain.
He’s heart broken and goes home. He goes into the attic to look at Maxwell’s work, and the posters that had appeared a while ago and wonders how Maxwell did it aloud.
That’s when the radio talks to him, “ You say you want to know how Maxwell did it, pal?”
and then Magus sort of freaks out, “ Is...is this a two-way radio? Have you been listening to me this whole time? Who are you?”
The radio replies, “ I’m a friend, pal. I only want to help you. I know how Maxwell did all of his tricks. Wouldn’t you like to know?“
Magus would hesitate before replying, “ Y-yes! Of course I want to know! “
“ Alright, pal! It’s a deal! “
And then shadow hands would come out of all of the posters and papers, and pull him into the box that was still next to the radio.
(I tried to not make Magus’ bg like Wilson that much so I didn’t include a building of a portal, after all Klei does say that the other characters were brought in before wilson. It’s only shown that Wilson built a portal, so maybe the others were taken in other ways.)
When Magus ends up on the island he’s still in his performance suit, and he comes with magic tier item recipes already learned.
There's a Don't Starve mermaid au floating around and I desperately want to join this movement. Because nothing will sway my idea of Wolfgang being either a merman of the walrus or shark variety.
