☆ ★ ☆ — ❝ .... And you’re certain the princess said it was alright? ❞ Noctus questioned. A tentative air had the alchemist stalling in his approach, his eyes casts skyward to the tops of the towering bookshelves. Their great size stood nearly as tall as the shoulders of the academic giants that had written the books that filled them.
Noctus glanced over his shoulder at Antoine for confirmation before finally stepping forward. Tenderly he plucked a title from one of the shelves with a gloved hand, having slipped on a pair for the explicit purpose of handling the books without leaving residue of his natural oils on the aged pages. He turned over the book in his hand before opening the front, scanning the publication information. ❝ I knew the Acorn family had quite the library but this... It’s so well preserved for its age. ❞
Pivoting back to Antoine, Noctus gestured to the print on the page. ❝ Look, see here. This one was originally printed a semi-centennial ago and it’s barely yellowed. The pages still have a strong binding to the spine, without the threads having been overly distressed or loosened. Even the cover has minimal wear. ❞ The alchemist’s eyes had lit up with excitement, though his tone had remained relatively steady. Clearly Noctus wasn’t prone to the same energetic bursts as a certain fox or walrus that the Freedom Fighter knew.
