All the details on Gucci's upcoming capsule collection with Mr. Porter
Gucci x Dapper Dan capsule collection is finally here!
Following the success of their bespoke atelier last January, Gucci and Harlem-based tailor Dapper Dan have released a capsule collection. In the 80s and 90s, Dapper Dan became a leading light of the urban and hip-hop fashion movementsduring the 80's and the 90's. Famous for appropriating the monograms of fashion houses and applying them to streetwear, giving rise to logomania and becoming a go-to stylist to celebrities. Now with the trend returning to center stage, it only made sense for Gucci to collaborate with Dapper Dan himself.
The duo are releasing their street style-influenced collaboration, referencing the most recognizable Dapper Dan creations with a Gucci twist. Gucci’s signature GG logo can be found alongside their red and green stripes and embroidered dragons on jackets, shirts and jeans. Other dope accessories include bejeweled glasses, sneakers, backpacks and belt bags. The unisex collection, was shot by New York photographer Ari Marcopoulos, who took inspiration from 80s New York street style.
The Gucci x Dapper Dan collection is now available in Gucci stores and on the Gucci website.
Illustrator Ignasi Monreal designs this season’s most artistic collaboration- #GucciHallucination
The surrealist images from the magnificent Spring/Summer 2018 campaign designed by Ignasi Monreal are guest starring in the new Gucci capsule collection.
Young Spanish artist Ignasi Monreal has been collaborating with Gucci since 2015’s #GucciGram project, which revisited the Gucci Blooms floral print and the Gucci Caleido geometric print. After designing the Spring/Summer 2018 campaign, with a surrealist digital aesthetic, his work is being honored in a capsule collection featuring the campaign images and exploring three elements: earth, sea and sky. And the images are straight out of the artist’s fertile imagination,, dream-like and inspired by paintings such at the Portrait of Señora de Garay by Ignacio Zuloaga y Zabaleta, this new collection includes nine t-shirts and nine sweatshirts, with 200 and 100 of each available respectively. Each piece is made unique by a numbered label and special packaging decorated with Ignasi Monreal’s work. Alongside the launch, the fashion house and the artist have also decorated a wall in Brick Lane, London with a giant mural of one of the artist’s works, after doing the same in New York and Milan. Find out more on social networks using the hashtag #GucciHallucination, available exclusively on Gucci.com throughout April 2018.
