The berries of Viburnum opulus 'Xanthocarpum' (yellow-fruited guelder rose) are translucent yellow rather than the usual red of the species. This deciduous native shrub has leaves which turn yellow or pale pink in the autumn but the berries persist into winter.

In a shady location the bunches of berries and autumn foliage of the deciduous shrub Viburnum opulus (guelder rose) were creating display. This native plant grows well in hedgerows, or as part of a woodland edge or in a shrub border. In the late spring to early summer it has large, lacecap-like, white flowers and the resulting berries are eaten by the birds which distribute the seeds.
