2nd attempt :) Walls, stare, room, stairs
They must now shore up all of their resources against a feared invasion by either Aesfrost or Hyzante. Cordelia’s reputation was so tattered that she could not even imagine the challenges it would create for her as she attempted to rule her kingdom. Cordelia would stand alone against the encroaching walls of night, the impenetrable darkness where dangers innumerable did lurk, waiting to swallow her whole. She was afraid. She would admit that. She feared having to act as a single struggler in the storm that was to come. She would have felt considerably less alone if she had Avlora by her side, as they had once agreed. She did not think she would have been so afraid.
But Glenbrook, though a wellspring of salt independent of the Source in Hyzante that could be found within its own borders would undoubtedly have been a fantastically valuable boon, had not suffered for want of salt the way Aesfrost had since the close of the Saltiron War. Glenbrook was not bled dry in exchange for Hyzantian salt as Aesfrost was. Glenbrook was not driven to politically perilous salt smuggling just to get enough of it to satisfy its needs. Roland and his companions said that Gustadolph had his own cousin murdered as a pretext for war, and as Cordelia stared at the salt deposits, shimmering in the lantern-lit gloom as a tremendous host of stars, she knew exactly why, and her heart burned with the memory of her own uncertainty regarding her father’s guilt or innocence in the affair. What a fool she had been. What an utter fool.
Two for 'room,' but I'm using this one, since it also contains an instance of 'stairs':
Over time, the lady was less and less herself, and bore more resemblance to another lady whom those around her had once known. But it was not to last. It was not to last at all. Before whatever further transformation was waiting for this lady could come to pass, she mounted the stairs to the summit of the highest tower of her home, and threw herself back down those stairs, the crown still upon her head. Though her body at the bottom of the stairs was so mangled that it could be identified only by the bloodied gown which it wore, the crown, which had rolled to the other side of the room into which she had come tumbling out, was totally intact. Not even one of the delicate pearls had been knocked from its setting.
Yeah, everybody's having just such a fun time.
