i'm a junior and i've taken an sat and an act so far. and i'm planning to take another sat in march. my math and writing scores are solid in the 700s but what i'm worried about is CR. i wasn't born in america so i guess a score in the 600s is still good but i want at least a 2200 on the sat. i don't know why but the CR section of the act was much easier than the sat :T anyways, do you have any test-taking tips (guessing tips maybe?) thanks!
I definitely agree! Because the questions on the ACT are right next to the part they are referring to in the passage, it's really easy to answer questions just as you go along.
Hmmm, for CR, I personally read the questions first and then annotated the passage for questions as I went along; you could possibly try that.
Ooh for guessing tips, I often just guess the answer that looks most like everything else. Here, let me try to give you a math example (it applied to CR as well though) If your answers are: a) -3/2 b) 3/2 c) 3/4 d) -3/5 e) 5/2 and you have no idea, I would choose b. Why b? Because it looks most like every other answer. The majority of the five answers are positive, have a numerator of 3, and a denominator of 2.
Also, remember that problems get harder as you go along. So, if you're on the last problem of a section, the most obvious answer probably isn't the right one. Also the answer, "It cannot be determined from the information given" is more likely to be correct at the beginning of the section-at the end of the section, it is probably incorrect.
I hope that helps!
