Guest Highlight: Allison and Sky, continued…
After calling for a few weeks, Allison and Sky got in to emergency shelter at The Delores Project. The first night, Allison fell asleep at 7 PM, her first full night of sleep since losing her home. The meals provided gave her strength, and with the bus passes she could access the resources she needed for her health and stability. For Sky, it was more than having a place to leave her things; it was people treating her with respect as she went about her day. It was more than access to basic necessities like food and a hot shower; it was feeling human once more. With the bus passes, Sky had a reliable way to get to her seasonal job, and began to build her stability. The Saturday games and activities helped her laugh and feel normal, and seeing the same volunteers serve meals comforted her.
