being in a homeless shelter feels like wire mother
I understand why the mom I talk to says she misses living in motels like we did. Bc u have more comfort of autonomy of ur daily life there but no finnancial freedom. Bc here u cannot be in ur room from 9am-5pm. The only place allowed to hang out in at the shelter is a big room w a lot of screaming kids in a cinderblock basement. We're not allowed to have the remote for the TV. If u open ur own room window an alarm goes off
Tho if u get in u get a case worker who can push u thru the gatekeepy bullshit of having a place of ur own n can connect y to other community resources that u dunno abt or cant w/o a referral of a case worker. U get ur basic needs met irt food n laundry n showering
Wire mother w food
Vs a hotel u can do whatever u want bc its built for ppl to come stay n do whatever in town/the area. So u can do whatever except have an airfryer or crockpot and smoke in ur room (doesnt stop most ppl)
and u get unlimited free Wi-Fi, towls, sheets, and TP (well. Unless u live in a shitty rundown motel where all the clean stuff went to "guests" and "residents" had to wait until laundry was clean or a nice person at the desk. Like we did
but. ur all of ur money is going $2,000-3,000 a month for a ~400 sq ft single room where rent varies by the hour. So u obviously don't have enough for food let alone an apartment . Cloth mother w no food
Why cant homeless ppl get cloth mother w food holy shit
