"The mix is made up of a small selection of tracks I have come across recently on the many excellent music blogs out there. Often, my encounter with these nuggets are down to the brilliant groundwork laid down by the many skillful curators out there – I’m a big fan of http://earsofthebeholder.com/ and http://soniscope.com/ – but happy accidents do occur, especially to those who actively go looking for them! Inspired by all the music that is being blogged about, I could have gone down several stylistic routes, but opted for a predominantly American synth-based / laptop-based angle. In my book, America and electronica typically don’t go hand in hand, but having come across the kind of lush, texturally complex yet melodically simple tracks represented in this mix, I am now much more likely to look to the US for inspiring and progressive electronica."
