               he’s been waiting all morning ( he’s stopped waiting on the doorstep by now, but every little noise still has the teen looking up from his phone ) and now, after seven hours, it’s finally time to accept that jaebum isn’t coming. so he wanders into the kitchen and seats himself at the counter, chin resting against his palm as he watches his stepfather do... whatever it is he’s doing. ❝ he’s stood me up again, hasn’t he...? ❞

               ❝ i already told you, i don’t know anything about your dad, ❞ he mutters, a half burnt out cigarette clamped between his lips. over the past few months, he’s heard the name son namjoon more times than he cares for. normally he wouldn’t care, but... well, maybe he’s got a bit of a soft spot for yerim. he’s made calls back home to his father, and he’s searched joshua’s ledgers extensively, but he’s yet to find a trace of her elusive father. ❝ hate me for saying it, yeri, but it might be time to accept he’s not coming back. ❞

               minseok still quite can’t believe he managed to dump his coffee on someone. he knows the polite thing to do would have been to offer to pay for any cleaning expenses, but he’s a scholarship student from a working class family -- he doesn’t have the spare cash to just cover dry cleaning fees. which is why he’s been slaving over his stove for close to four hours, the fruits of his labour safely enclosed in a little soup pot, tucked under one arm as he knocks on minho’s front door ( and maybe double checks the address he jotted down on his phone, just in case... ).

               in all her years, yejin’s never experienced an accident on set. hearing sirens blaring, and someone yelling ‘fire!’ has her, understandably, in a panic. and it’s stupid, but all she can think about is her poodles, locked away in her trailer on the other side of the set. at the first sign of calm she grabs the first firefighter she sets eyes on, unspilled tears glistening in the corners of her eyes as she asks desperately, ❝ my dogs... are they okay...? ❞

               fact; joshua kim hates christmas. too many flashbacks of having to pretend to be interested in watching sarah open her presents, his insufferable grandmother pinching his cheeks whenever he left them undefended, and his father acting like some big man because he can carve a turkey. if it were up to joshua, he'd do away with the whole 'christmas' thing entirely. ❝ bah fucking humbug, ❞ he mutters under his breath in his native english, as he sucks the last dregs of nicotine from his cigarette. ❝ it better not fucking snow. ❞

               for someone who spends his life on the road, daeshim is always eating. he’s on break right now, waiting for his next delivery to come in, phone plopped on the table in front of him, mere seconds away from his first mouthful of jjamppong, when he notices someone nearby staring at his menu like his life depends on his choice. so, daeshim being daeshim, leans across to offer helpfully, ❝ if you’re stuck, they do a great jjajangmyeon. ❞

               to all intents and purposes, iolo should probably be asleep right now. but instead he’s camped out on the sofa with his schoolwork spread out around him, cramming for some pop quiz they might be having at school tomorrow. headphones drown out the silence of the house, and his sweet baby sister almost gets away with whatever she’s up to, but fate sees iolo glance up from his work just in time to see her tiptoeing around in the dark. ❝ are you sneaking out again? it’s 3am, where are you going? ❞

               usually chaewon feeds on her patients, the marks left by her fangs disguised as needle punctures. but once in a while, she tires of feeding on the sick and the elderly, and prowls the streets in search of fresher meat. like the poor sucker lying face down in the gutter, who only needed a pretty face and a smile to fall into her trap.

               the scent of another vampire sets her on edge, but she relaxes when she recognises who it belongs to. daesung, she thinks his name was. she didn’t care enough to remember. a glance over her shoulder and she catches sight of him. he looks hungry, she thinks. slowly she extends one blood-stained hand to him, beckoning with elegant fingers as she gently commands him, ❝ come. ❞
