Something really cool about the og game is the Cloud we see at the start of the game is actually supposed to talk like and do similar gestures to Zack as an act of emulation of what he believes to be the perfect hero which they had to change and update a lot in the Re version to fit Crisis Core bc it uh…messed that up, so to speak by further characterizing Zack in a way that completely defeats this purpose (and made him meet Aerith the way he does to give another excuse as to why she’d be reminded of Zack ig) as it was supposed to be a prequel to the og but now it’s more accurately a FF7R prequel as Tseng characterization is different too. If you get the Clerith date in the og which even as a Cloti truther is the most narratively satisfying to get due to the dialogue evolving later on (Aerith: I want to meet…you. / Cloud, to Tifa: Maybe one day you’ll meet the real Cloud. Like this is something special only Tifa will be able to achieve) imo, you find this fact out. Aerith states her initial reasons for pursuing Cloud were because of his emulation of Zack—the “perfect Soldier”. I think both versions have something to offer and I bet you’d love to see the differences between the two and what happens in the og.

This scene in FFXVI reminded me of something I've seen before, with other characters, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is. Maybe this scene with Ven and Aqua and/or Gula and Ava?
