i like what you’re insinuating with that 😏 emoji, anon. i mean, who wouldn’t want to share Miles’ jacket? it probably smells like updated autopsy reports and daffodils.

All Miles could think about in that very moment was the erratic beating of his heart. The weather was cool, yet he felt like he was on fire, and the fact that you were so close to him did not help in the slightest. All he thought he could do in the moment was not look at you and keep his gaze trained straight ahead, but even that proved to be a feat.

“Miiiiiles...” You drawled sleepily, leaning your head on the side of Edgeworth’s arm. He should have refused Phoenix’s invitation to a small bonfire hangout with a few others, because now that the flames had dimmed and the cold settled in, the memory of how you always end up falling asleep when the temperature starts to drop began to resurface. Damn, he should have rejected Phoenix’s offer. He should have brought another coat.

He gazed at you out of the corner of his eyes; Face flushed red with chill and nearly shivering against his clothed arm, you were a sight to behold, but the man thought you looked as lovely as always. You yawned, and Miles reached over to brush a stray hair behind your ear.

“Aren’t you...” Edgeworth began hesitantly. Would you reply? You were barely able to keep your eyes open, but it seemed like you were listening. Too late to go back, it seemed. “...cold?”

“Mmm...” You hummed, and then you went quiet. You had fallen asleep resting against his body, and Miles let out a quiet sigh. What is he supposed to do now? The situation and setting was quite inconvenient, because normally, he would bring you to bed and drape the comforter over your body, but that was not the case here. He could always drive you home, but you looked so... comfortable. And a little cold. If he couldn’t bring himself to break this moment of idyllic serenity, then he could at least address one of the problems, even if it meant he would be embarrassed beyond belief.

Edgeworth slowly and carefully slipped the arm you were resting on out of the sleeve of his coat, using his other hand to steady you so you wouldn’t abruptly wake up, and when his limb felt a little more chilly he reached over to pull you closer to him. Your head was practically resting against his chest now, and he felt his face blossom like a rose, though he did not say a word. Draping the loose part of his jacket over your form was the final touch, and after that, the clearing was quiet and devoid of the sound of fabric rustling. This was fine. This was perfectly fine. No one else was here to witness this, and you were fast asleep so you couldn’t tease him on how flustered he was getting. He would wait a little while longer before he woke you up to head home, but for now, he would peacefully savor this small moment of tranquility here with you.

Gumshoe would definitely want to start eating lunch with you once you two start dating. Being able to see you during the day, even if it’s just for a little while, gives him enough motivation to make it through the rest of the day with a smile on his face and a pep in his step. If you want, he’d even make you lunches— Sandwiches, of course (his specialty). He’ll pack it in a classic paper bag and slip in a note as well, eagerly waiting for you to read it when the time comes around. ‎‎‎‎

While he doesn’t have a lot of money to begin with, Gumshoe would want to buy you gifts, preferably flowers. He’s not too good with floral arrangements, so he’ll usually just give you a single flower instead of a large bouquet. To him, gifts are a symbol of affection and care, and being able to see your face light up upon receiving a singular (albeit slightly smushed) rose or tulip makes his entire day. He’ll get you other small trinkets as well such as keychains, mugs or miniature plushies too, because it’s the thought that counts rather than the size and cost. ‎‎‎‎‎‎

Gumshoe’s a pretty friendly guy, so he’s certain to be on good terms with your family. If you have any younger siblings, he’ll show them all these neat gadgets that he built, and when he’s able to, he’d bring along Missile to introduce to them. Gumshoe would always try to impress your parents or parental figures and will do his very best to get along with them in order to prove that he’s worth the role of your boyfriend. He’s the one for you, he swears! ‎‎‎‎‎

Gumshoe enjoys taking pictures with you! He likes to pick out his favorites of the both of you to put into his wallet, and whenever he’s going through a particularly tough case, he’ll take a look at them to relieve his stress, even if it’s just a little bit. The pictures remind him that he has someone waiting for him at the end of the day! You’re a motivating figure in his life! Your happy expression makes his heart soar! ...If he has the time, he’d even try to put together a scrapbook with the pictures you both have taken to surprise you, but with his big hands and clumsy movements, you might just have to help him out. ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎

If you’re caught up as a witness or suspect in a particularly dreadful case, then Gumshoe will do whatever he can to get himself assigned to that case, and then from there, he’ll do everything in his power to get you outta there safe and sound! ...Which, in turn, might make him act a bit more impulsively because his desire to protect you will clash with his role as a detective. He’d be worrying about you constantly, so imagine his relief when the case wraps up! He’d give you a giant bear hug and ask you if you’re okay, and after that, he’d want to treat you to dinner. If the case was something that Phoenix was handling, then Gumshoe would invite you to eat dinner with him, Phoenix, and Maya! ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎

Gumshoe is very proud of you and being able to be with you. While he won’t exactly brag about you, he’ll bring you up in conversations quite often and will definitely talk you up to whoever will listen. He’s proud of whatever accomplishments you make no matter how small and will always support you throughout your career as well as in day-to-day life. You’re just so incredibly cool, and while he’ll be more embarrassed when complimenting you right to your face in comparison to the cheesy things he says in front of others, he’s always honest with what he thinks of you and what you are to him. Gumshoe’s not too good with lying in the first place, so you don’t have to worry about him hiding anything from you.
