Top Gun 40 Fest Rules
All types of fanwork are allowed. Fanfiction, fanart, gifset, meta, podfic, bookbinding, crochet … If you can do it, do it!
Works must focus on the first film, Top Gun (1986). Yes, you may submit works featuring characters or events from Top Gun: Maverick, but there should be obvious reference to the first film. Examples: ✓ A gifset illustrating parallels from the first and second film. ✓ Fanart of a character who only appears in the first film. ✓ Fanfiction about how a character who only appears in the second film experiences the events of the first film. x Podfic of a story about a character who only appears in the second film set entirely during the events of the second film.
Works must respond to the daily prompt. The interpretation of the prompt is up to you.
Post works as close to the actual day as possible. (For example: The prompt for Tuesday, May 12 is Family. Attempt to post any work for the Family prompt on this day.) But don't worry: late work will still be accepted!
Yes, your works may satisfy other events, etc. If you want to create a work that satisfies a TG40 prompt and the monthly event at your gif community, that is very sexy of you, and we are impressed by your ability to multitask. We only ask that you wait until the appropriate TG40 day to post it.
Add the text @topgun40fest Day #: Prompt to your posts, and tag (in the tags) #topgun40fest to participate. If you'd like to post your work to AO3, please add it to the Top Gun 40 Fest collection.
TG40 is a celebration. Participants are on the honor system in regards to the rules; organizers are not going to be hard-asses about enforcing them. (Don't get cheeky, though. We won't post submissions obviously breaking rules.) We are here to have fun, celebrate the movie we all love, and enjoy each other's art.
