The U.S. had 4.43 deaths due to gun violence per 100,000 people in 2017. That's nine times as high as the rate in Canada and 29 times as high as in Denmark. https://n.pr/2z2gKik
How The U.S. Compares With The Highest Rates Of Violent Gun Deaths Worldwide
American Political System Is Pretty Weird
The American pollical system is pretty weird. For instance, where is their Leader of the Opposition? They have 2 major political parties opposing each other at elections, but when one party is in office the other is nowhere to be seen. Right now, President Trump is doing his grandiose thing, but the recently defeated Kamala Harris is a big fat zero on the scene. How can the party not in power be the alternative government in waiting without a leader to rally around? Congress is a massive failure and has been for many years, as many of them don’t represent the people they are supposed to because they have been bought by AIPAC or some other super pac. Republican congress men and women are so much in thrall to President Trump that they have collectively lost their voice.
Strange Anomalies Within America’s Political Set Up
The other weird thing is that someone like President Trump has never served as an elected member of the house of representatives or the senate. Trump has never served the people in any of these capacities but their system allows him to stand for President. The essence of politics is supposed to be about service, but I don’t think Americans really understood that part of it. They are so enamoured of the individual that they think governing is all about the President. Politicians are, in essence, elected civil servants, there to serve the American people. I don’t think that anyone mentioned this to Donald Trump. The American political system is pretty weird.
Hey GOP, What About State’s Rights?
The GOP are famous for carping on about state’s rights. Right now, I don’t see anyone from that side talking about state rights when it comes to ICE being sent in large numbers to cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, New York, Washington DC and Los Angeles. All of these cities and states are Democrat controlled places, funny that. I don’t think ICE has done its paramilitary invasion thing in any red states, funny that isn’t it? ICE agents have murdered 2 American citizens in Minneapolis, so far. Minneapolis is 300 miles away from any US border, funny that these border agents are there enmasse in their thousands. Could it be really about something else other than border security? Renee Good was a mother of 3 shot in the face at point blank range by an ICE agent. Alex Pretti was a nurse in a vet’s hospital, going to the aid of a woman pushed violently to the ground by ICE. He was shot whilst prostrate on the ground. These are nasty and cowardly killings by armed paramilitaries.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGilSiiZeWw
“Multiple bystander videos have come to light showing the lead-up to the fatal shooting of nurse Alex Pretti by a Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis.
The Trump administration says it was a case of an armed man provoking violence.
In the videos, Mr Pretti is seen with only a phone in his hand, before US federal agents use pepper spray and wrestle him to the ground before he is shot.”

“I could have also used the terms selfish, greedy, disinterested and trapped in the past. Look around you at the current crop of right wing governments in the United States and Israel as illustrations of this. The MAGA supporters are, on the whole, focused on what they can get from a Trump administration and turning the clock back to a less integrated multiracial America. You do not get the sense that these folk are interested in what is good for all Americans, no matter their skin colour, gender or sexual preference. This is why right wing voters tend to be more stupid.”

Why Does A Gun Licensee Need 6 Weapons?
We can bang on about terrorism and causes but it was guns that made this horrific Bondi Beach incident so costly in lives. Why does a gun licensee need 6 weapons? For those that might require reminding, guns facilitate massacres by making it easier to kill people. 16 people are dead from this mass shooting event at the time of writing. It is lax and over generous gun laws which have provided these killers with 6 guns to use in this devastating attack on multiple victims. Nobody needs 6 guns, whatever their circumstances; and the Bondi Beach victims have paid the price.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24bF9BU4D5I
Multiple Weapons Make Killing Easier
In the case of weapons like guns, we must all be governed by worst case scenario possibilities. Guns kill people efficiently and quickly, as they are designed to do. It does not matter that the great majority of people use them responsibly if a massacre can result from the rare instances of their misuse. An inadequate comparison are the drink-driving laws that we must all adhere to. Echoes of America and its weekly mass shootings can be heard in this terrible event down at Bondi Beach. Indeed, there was one at Brown University, over there, on the same day.
Gun License Laws NSW
Guns are used recreationally and for the control of pests on properties. The most important thing to remember, however, is that they are incredibly dangerous devices in the hands of those intent on doing harm. This reality must gazump all other considerations when controlling their use via licensing.
“Authority conferred by the licence: The licensee is authorised to possess or use a registered firearm to which the licence applies, but only for the purpose established by the licensee as being the genuine reason for possessing or using the firearm.
However, in the case of a licensee who is a person referred to in paragraph (c) of the genuine reason of vertebrate pest animal control, the authority conferred by the licence is restricted as follows—
(a) the licensee is authorised to possess or use no more than 3 registered firearms to which the licence applies,
(b) the licensee is authorised to use a firearm to which the licence applies only on the rural property specified in the licence.”
Overkill: Why does a gun licensee need 6 weapons?
I imagine that there will be an investigation into the firearm’s licensee, who is now deceased, and whether his possession of these firearms contravened the gun laws. After the fact stuff provides cold comfort to the victims’ families. It will probably emerge that he had 2 properties and 3 guns for each property to control pests. We saw what happened following the Port Arthur massacre and this mass shooting is up there with that terrible event. Lax and over generous applications of gun licensing provisions will come under strict scrutiny, I would suggest.
Christian Terrorism In Queensland
“The recent police shootings in Queensland has turned the spotlight on the role of religion in terrorism and acts of violence. The Train brothers at the centre of this mass murder were brought up by an evangelical father. The Trains made a YouTube video around the time of the police shootings telling the world that they had killed the demons and devils who had invaded their property (this video has been taken down by the police). This was a reference to the 2 young police officers who were murdered by the trio of armed Queenslanders. Thankfully, 2 more young police officers were able to survive this act of domestic terrorism.”

Why Did Tyler Robinson Kill Charlie Kirk?
“Why?
Why did I do it?
Yeah.
I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out.”
In a land chock full of guns hatred has become a currency. A young American man, from a Mormon family in Utah, who grew up around guns, I mean the family embraced a love of guns, used that weapon of choice to kill another man. This is an American story. Guns and hatred. The culture worships guns. Every movie and video game is packed with automatic weaponry. Why did Tyler Robinson kill Charlie Kirk? It’s pretty bloody obvious. The why was Kirk’s expressed and implicit hatred of non-white and different folk in America.

In Charlie Kirk’s Own Words
“Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more.

If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?
– The Charlie Kirk Show, 3 January 2024
If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.”

These are not the words of someone wanting to heal the racial divide in America! The old saying goes – live by the sword, die by the sword. In the United States, it is a gun, of course; this is where the culture worships guns. You don’t get to go around slagging off those that you don’t like and then, when in a politically violent place you get taken down, suddenly, become a martyred saint. Kirk’s own words and celebrity made him a target. Killing is wrong. So, is the backward thinking of people like Charlie Kirk. It is morally wrong, racist and white supremacist. The world does not need entitled white folk grifting off the fears and anxieties of white America.
Wrong Headed America
“What is interesting is the normalising of racist, right wing attitudes in America, these days. Charlie Kirk having been shot dead in the great tradition of American political violence is enjoying a eulogising character enhancement period. Disparaging black people and women is now par for the course in the USA, it seems. Charlie did it with a smile, they say, as if this makes the content of what he said OK. Going around telling college students that it is OK to denigrate African Americans and uphold white supremacist views is now an accepted position, according to the corporate media in the US.”

Rapacious Health Fund CEO Gunned Down
Only in America, the land of unchecked greed and guns, do you half expect these sort of things. Rapacious health fund CEO gunned down in New York city. The assassin had marked his bullets with the words ‘deny’, ‘defend’ and ‘depose’. These are the insurer’s mantra when refusing payouts to policy holders. Brian Thompson was the CEO of United Healthcare a company on target to make $450 billion revenue this financial year. This is America where healthcare is first and foremost about profitability for investors and executives. I suspect that this way of doing business has made the company plenty of enemies.
Is The Killing Of Healthcare CEO Revenge?
The response on social media to the killing has been less than overly sympathetic to the victim. Americans are, it seems, primed for violence. The US health system is a deeply unfair, expensive, and flawed array of the worst that America has to offer its citizens. “Animosity was expressed from avowed socialists to right-wing activists suspicious of the so-called "deep state" and corporate power. It also came from ordinary people sharing stories about insurance firms denying their claims for medical treatments. Recent Commonwealth Fund research found that 45% of insured working-age adults were charged for something they thought should have been free or covered by insurance, and less than half of those who reported suspected billing errors challenged them. And 17% of respondents said their insurer denied coverage for care that was recommended by their doctor.” (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cm2eeeep0npo) Everything in America is about making money, over and above, what those sectors are there for. The financialization of healthcare via private equity takeovers of hospitals has seen care rates plummet and consumer costs go way up. People are angry and some of them are armed.

Disgruntled Consumers Are Not Going To Take It Anymore
I have been sounding the alarm about civil unrest for some time now. You cannot keep screwing people and not expect a backlash. The wealth divide in the US is extreme and the same thing is happening in Australia. Neoliberalism and its economic policies have accelerated inequity and inequality around the globe. Rapacious corporate executives and their boards are overseeing the plundering of the middle class. Everything costs more and competition has been removed from the market meaning consumers have no buying power. Governments and their agencies are complicit in this, as they have been bought off with campaign donations and promises of well paid jobs via the revolving door. Medical Profession Disgraced By Purdue Pharma Rapaciousness Violence is not condoned by right thinking individuals but neither is the disconnect between rapacious money making and people’s lives. For profit private enterprise should not be involved in healthcare. The sector is not best served by greedy capitalists. We have seen how the medical profession in America was bought off by Purdue Pharma with lies and incentives to prescribe their deadly addictive pain killers. This has resulted in millions of lives destroyed across America. “April 17, 2024 – The U.S. health care system is “totally broken,” according to Sen. Bernie Sanders. Speaking to members of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health community on April 12, Sanders, an Independent senator from Vermont, explained why the system doesn’t work. “It is a system not designed to provide health care to all people in a cost-effective way,” he said. “It is a system designed to make huge profits for the insurance companies, the drug companies, and many other industries within the system.” “ (https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/bernie-sanders-describes-dysfunctional-u-s-health-care-system-and-how-to-fix-it/) Robert Sudha Hamilton is the author of Bite & Smile – his brand new book which has just been published. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0DPM9WS6K ©WordsForWeb https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0DPM9WS6K Read the full article
Donald Trump In His First Administration
If 40% of the American voting age population actually support Donald Trump and intend to vote for him in the coming presidential election what criteria are they basing that on? Donald Trump, in his first administration, fired most of those individuals he chose to work closely with. “Trump's White House has had the highest turnover of senior-level staff of the past five presidents, according to figures compiled by the Brookings Institution think tank.” (https://www.reuters.com/article/world/factbox-trump-administration-departures-resignations-and-firings-idUSKBN1O803H/) “There is a long list of one-time allies and aides who have either turned against former President Donald Trump or whom he has turned against. No person in US politics – certainly no recent president – has such an expansive list of high-profile allies turned enemies.” (https://edition.cnn.com/2023/10/03/politics/donald-trump-former-allies-what-matters/index.html)

Trump Failed To Work With His Appointees
In government, as in business, you have to work with other people to get things done. You cannot do it on your own or you get next to nothing done, which is a fair reflection of Trump’s first administration. Are American’s so stupid, as to how government functions, that they do not realise that electing someone who cannot get along with others is condemning their nation to further instability and civil unrest. You cannot bully your way through the experience of governing, as you will soon run out of people who can actually do the job. Americans may believe in the power of the individual but no individual can effectively run a country containing 333 million people. Toxic management may work in a fake reality TV show but not in the real world. However, do Americans know what the real world is?
First Time Around Trump Fired His Friends & Allies
Courting grievance is no basis upon which to run a country. Folk in rural red states may feel that they have not been heard enough but a regime based on punishing city folk and liberals is not going to make anything great. You cannot turn the clock back to yesteryear; no matter who promises you that. The world keeps on turning and humanity has to adapt to the demands of the future. Donald Trump burns people and unrealistically demands personal loyalty to him above that of duty to country. This is not how government and the public service works. People who work for the government serve their nation first and foremost. The President of the United States is not a mob boss. You don’t get to enrich yourself at the expense of others in the role of POTUS. You are not there to scam money and cream deals off the top. No, you are in that role to serve the best interests of the nation. I am not sure where those who support Trump have lost their sense of the importance of integrity or whether they never had that in the first place. The latter position, if true, is much more worrying for America and humanity at large.
Photo by Karolina Kaboompics on Pexels.com Team Trump Was A Disaster in 2016-20 To use the analogy of a football team, you cannot have a coach who can’t get along with the players and the other support staff. Donald Trump sacked and had so many staff resign on his watch that America slumped into the Covid pandemic like a football team at the bottom of the ladder. America lost its international standing in the eyes of its allies. Wooden spooners in the governing stakes nearly a million Americans lost their lives to Covid in the richest nation on earth. The world was gob smacked at its inept performance at keeping its citizens safe and alive. Trump Taking America To The Brink Any sane person with a basic understanding of how government functions could not appoint Trump as CEO again. Not unless you have a death wish or something. Not unless your own grievance is so great that you will happily see your country go to hell in a hand basket. If the nation is so split then let it be called the Disunited States of America. Perhaps, to avert civil war 2.0 a partition could be arranged like the bloody one experienced by a divided India after independence from the British. Cut the country in half and have the white Christian Nationalists on one side and the multiracial democracy in the other. More than 600, 000 Americans died as a result of the fighting in the Civil War of 1861-65. Imagine the butcher’s bill in 2024-25 if a gunned up America went to war with itself once again. Backing a deranged and irresponsible leader like Trump will have its cost and the collateral damage could be catastrophic.
