Saint-Germain doesn’t feel real anymore.
She’d long accepted there would be nothing after death. It was part of the reason she was so terrified of it. (It was part of the reason she stopped caring so much when she thought Prelati and Cagliostro were dead.) And yet, here she is, lost in a strange city she feels unusually safe in. Isola Radiale. Spirale. They're names she’s never heard before in her thousands of years of researching legends, and yet, they're the things she’s least worried about.
Her Spellcaster is gone. She still possesses her Lapis Philosophorum, but it’s easy to tell that it's nothing more than a pretty rock at the moment. None of her alchemy works, aside from her ability to fly, but really, that’s not...too incredibly helpful in this situation. She’s too disoriented to try and scope things out, as it were, and she prefers to keep her feet on the ground. She’s been given some sort of toy gun, as if that’s a reasonable exchange, but she’s got the feeling there’s not much to be done about that at the moment. But none of this would matter, really, if she still had the two she cared so deeply for.
And it’s this sense of loss that’s led her to wander in the rain, aimless. She notices the hustle and bustle around here, notices how people simply seem to be going about their daily lives. Are these natives? Or have they been whisked away from their deaths, like her? She can’t bring herself to ask anyone. Why bother? Honestly, she’s not in the mood to try and conjure up small talk--even if she were feeling good, she’s never been the greatest at it. So she stumbles about, caught in a hazy stupor she’s fine letting herself continue to sink into.
Until...a song.
That song.
It’s not being sung, really--it’s just a hum--but that small concession is all that’s needed to drag her back into reality, slam her into an uncomfortable truth. But how could this be? She knows the purification worked. Did Adam...? Was everything for naught, in the end? Without realizing it, she begins to tremble as her gaze falls upon Hibiki Tachibana, who seems to be cheerfully going about her day, despite the pouring rain. She feels sick. She wants to run, but she’s never been good at that, really. Like a deer in the headlights, she’s quite the sore sight.
