'Hiding' wasn't exactly the words he would use. Neither would he choose the term 'on the run.' Things were far more complicated than simple little words or silly sayings. He was just laying low until the perfect time to pop back into the thick of things. The game was not always an onslaught of the offensive; sometimes one needed a more subtile defense to win the war. While Sherlock and his dear big brother ran around chasing their tails, Jim Moriarty would kick back, drink his tea, and enjoy the show.
Well, enjoy it from quite a distance; he couldn't exactly stroll around London after the news of Sherlock's supposed 'death'. Moriarty's face was plastered all over the news and papers right next to the 'late' and great Sherlock Holmes. Of course, Jim new better, but that was beside the point.
With his extended vacation, the criminal found himself in the middle of Scotland with not much to do. The town certainly wasn't London... there were decent little inns and a few bars. One of which Moriarty found himself in.
It was small and a bit crowded, Jim having to settle for a seat at the bar rather than his own table. At least the drinks were adequate... Though he couldn't say the same for his fellow patrons. Loud and overly drunk, Jim found the lot of them highly irritating. The rather attractive blond was high on his list of annoyances. Of course he had caught Jim's eye, the man had caught most everyone's eye who bothered paying attention. He was a looker to be sure, but his lame attempts -- at least James considered them lame -- to swoon one woman after another were pathetic to the point of aggravation.
Taking his fourth glass of whatever mixed drink the bartender had given him, Jim moved to the card table. He wasn't one for gambling, a sport he found far too easy, but given his choices of amusement he'd take what he can get. Tossing the buy in onto the table, Jim took a seat in one graceful motion. Poke was an easy game as soon as one knew their opponent.
