We are not here to tell you what to do, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary General said during the joint press conference with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
Greece is an OECD member, Ángel Gurría added, and the Organization is here to work with Greece and for Greece, stressing that the benefits of growth should be directed at the majority of Greeks and not the few.
The organization stands for cooperation and growth and we did not come here to make suggestions. The Greeks know better what to do. We are here to show what other countries facing similar challenges are doing, Gurría added.
Earlier Mr Tsipras said that the Greek government will work closely with the Organization for the development and implementation of reforms.
The new government has pledged to carry out reforms that were not performed by the previous governments, because we have no commitments to the oligarchs. Our cooperation will be based on the popular mandate the government received from the Greek people, the Greek Prime Minister added.
He also expressed his belief that today’s meeting will mark the beginning of a new relationship, after turning on a new page on the chapter of reforms and spoke of an agreement for close cooperation on a growth pact that will be formalized in Paris.
