Long time African and Latin record collectors and music enthusiasts, John Warr and Guy Morley formed AfroBase as a monthly club back in 2002.
Kicking off this week with some reggae from Guinea-Bissau from Kimi Djabate, more from Pa Bobo & Razoof. We take a thumb piano detour to US jazz musician Kahil El Zabar & the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble before hitting some afrobeat with a new release from Togo All Stars and Brighton's own Yamaya featuring stunning Senegalese singer Khadim Sarr, Brasil based I.F.A., and Nigerian singer Okwei Odili & Aweto Band. More from the new single from South African duo Msaki & Tubatsi and new realease from guitarist Franck Biyong. Not forgetting Tanzanian multi instrumentalist and bush technologist Saidi Kanda & Mvula Mandondo who play Brighton's Rosehill venue on Saturday Feb 18
