Panna Cotta: malted barley, Mandarin, chocolate; aud16 from Garum, The Westin Perth. Menu on @perthfoodmenu Possibly the best panna cotta I’ve tasted. I’m not normally a fan of panna cotta and would not order it off the dessert menu. This wasn’t my order but I tried a spoonful of it and it was delicious. The dehydrated mandarin, chocolate ice cream and malted barley (shortbread/cookies?) all worked in harmony with this dessert which wasn’t too sweet at all. Another tip: Get this too. All three desserts (tiramisu, panna cotta and doughnuts) we ordered were amazing. No guarantees if you ordered outside these three as another group of friends ordered the Mela Cotogna but didn’t like it. You have been warned. P.S Apologies for the influx of posts in a single day. Pesce: local fish (snapper for the day), crab, celery, ginger, coriander; aud42 from Garum, The Westin Perth. Menu on @perthfoodmenu Not my order but I did try a bit of it. Gotta say it’s the thinnest fish fillet I’ve ever seen served at a restaurant for mains. Seemed a bit ridiculous considering the price but as my equally brutally honest friends reminded me, you’re in a restaurant that’s part of a five star hotel hence - fine dining prices. 😂 Tasted a bit of the fish and it was fresh. The skin was very crispy. Didn’t even realise there was crab until I referred to the menu. Friend who had it didn’t recall having crab either. Must be the small tiny bits on the coriander. Polpo: Octopus Gaeta style, sourdough, olives, tomato, capers; aud22 from Garum, The Westin Perth. Menu on @perthfoodmenu Loved this entrée too. Tender, succulent octopus combined with the tanginess of capers, tomato salsa and slightly salty olives. QUAIL, you stole the show! 🐦 // Quail, honey, garum, fennel, currants, pinenuts; aud22 from Garum at The Westin Perth, newly opened yesterday on Friday 27 April which is a collaboration between Guy Grossi and The Westin Perth. Wiki trivia: “ ‘Garum’ was a fermented fish sauce used as a condiment in the cuisines of Ancient Greece, Rome and later Byzantium. Although it enjoyed its greatest popularity in the Roman world, the sauce was earlier used by the Greeks.” As per Garum Perth’s website, Garum was made by salting and fermenting fish in small clay jugs or vessels. The quail was the dish of the day for me.
