I'm pretty sure this applies to anyone of you that's emotionally manipulated someone. I've seen too much suicide and self-harm go unreported to not believe this.

Guyland is the world in which young men live. This is considered a stage of life for young men between their adolescence and when they become adults. It is a stage in life, and a collection of places that allow boys to bridge the gap between these two radically different stages in their lives. They get to maintain their boyish dreams and aspirations, while assimilating to a world that is entirely different and offers brand new challenges. To fully understand this aspect of “Guyland” and the implication sit plays in the lives of young men in America, Kimmel interviewed around 400 young men. These young men were generally recently out of high school, having recently been thrust out of the world of boyhood. It is interesting to note that this group is the most targeted by media. Therefore they are the most influenced by it. This shows in the ways in which boys view what it means to be a man. Men have to suppress any emotions they feel as well as any confusion, any insecurity and anything that could possibly make them seem weak in the eyes of someone else. They have to be independent and able above all else.
Something that I found interesting was that women’s new freedom seen in birth control and the sexual revolution of the 1960’s, led to a further delay in boys entering adulthood. The freedom of women, changed the sex life of men, letting them play the field a bit more, without the pressing urgency of creating a family. This in interesting to me because it seems to almost blame in a way, women’s embracing of birth control and more sexually free behavior as ushering in the new era of casual sex for men. With women being allowed to be more sexually adventurous guys did not, and do not, feel as if they could hold off on the burden of starting a family, at least for a while.
