Admittedly, a few details of appointment differ-- for instance, the fd, and Ideale 47 Saddle-- but the family resemblance is fairly striking. According to Ernest Csuka (speaking to Jan Heine in a 2001 interview), fillet-brazed frames were a short-lived fashion-- which had ended by 1950-1. After this, Singer's "customers preferred lugs, and fillet-brazing vanished."

Mareze Badged City Bike Build detail I've always loved the original Zefal pump logo lettering, and early on decided this was just exactly the right project to seek one out. Oddly enough they seem far more uncommon than Ad Hoc frame pumps.

But then once I'd finally lucked into an original pair of Philippe Champs-Elysees handlebars, there was going to be no compromise on the pump front.

As for the Reynolds 631 decals-- these are almost as fanciful as the Mareze headbadge-- although for some reason the frame's last owner was completely convinced the frame was constructed of Reynolds tubes. Why, I have no idea.

But then I also have no idea whether the ornate lugs are Oscar Egg Super Champion or some Nervex model copying them even more closely than their most egg-ish Serie Legere models. Since the frame's BB shell IS Nervex, I assume the lugs must be Egg or Nervex.
