Poem 4

Do they realize the weight of his rule?Before our tongues became weapons, they were a tool. Remember what you stand for and hold on with all you are. But leave out fighting the differences or we won’t get very far.

Let’s try clutching onto National Pride in a way we never thought to go back to. In that way we did when we used to be seen and not heard. Demand clarity on the greatness promised. While still keeping your dignity and reclaim your sanity.

Let’s try including all people no matter when they come here. Because what’s the difference between thousands of years ago and today? Moving forward loses it’s call for celebration. The more we insist on taking it for granted.

"Leave You Together" Your face is like a porcelain doll I wish I could keep you behind the glass Did you know your fleshy shell Is so gorgeous, it makes me cry? At the same time that I want you hidden I want to be you, for the sake of public eye Why must who I truly am And who they want me to be Be two different people? Trapped in this bone-made cage Because I look in the mirror And who I see just can’t be me Oh, Even when I try My insides start to die And I suddenly feel so awkward Because I can feel them staring Deep down, they know you are my costume Doubts aside, they see me underneath, Waiting for my day And they tell you: But you’re so beautiful! I just can’t understand Why you think that you’re a man Don’t you dare cut your hair Or start wearing different clothes How could you do this to your family? You’re not seeing yourself clearly Standing right behind you, I hold onto everything you are They are right to call you beautiful Can’t I be too? One day, we grabbed the scissors And we never really stopped Step by step, we will figure this all out I won’t leave you behind. I will leave you together.

The darkness surrounds all that I am, all that I have on my person A sea of red lights ahead, slowing me to a slower motion I can only see the road that lies ahead and I'm left to ponder Still, I move forward with the tone of freedom caressing my eardrums In the midst of hopelessness, I continue on with everything I can I battle against the cries of Armageddon and search for meaning I see the distant rise of the sun as a reason to maintain my direction I will make a difference and I will be significant in spite of it all For it's not a loss but a challenge that we are facing in times like these

The Story She Will Never See Here I sit. Writing a sob story of what I have done to myself. Seeing you and all your beauty is something that I will never get over. You're the most amazing human to ever step foot in my life and here I sit, drunk, wishing that I didn't need to drink to feel numb to the pain that I have felt in the past month. Here i sit toasting to "forgetting about 2015" as I down the shot of whiskey that i hope will allow me to forget. The pain I feel is self inflicted and i know that full heartedly. seeing you smile is something I miss and want to provide you with. The happiness that you experience now is what was once something I was able to provide to you. As the bittersweet tears run down my cheeks, I know that you are happier now that you have ever been with me in the short time we spent with one another. But with all your happiness that you deserve, comes the happiness that I was forever in search of. The minimal time you spent in my life was equivalent to all the happiness that I never got to imagine. I'm grateful for that a brief moment in my fucked up life, you showed me what true happiness was. You taught me the real meaning of the question, "What makes you happy?" I am forever in your debt because that is something no one else in the world has ever given to me. I love you. I will admit that and shout it to the world from the highest of mountains. I am madly and deeply in love with you. But you already knew that. So here I am writing a sob story about how happy you made me and how happy you are without me. I love you. -eb
