The Bathroom Problem, Jenny Lin, 2014.
This tunnel book gives the viewer a first hand perspective on Lin’s encounter with Jack Halberstam's Female Masculinity (1998)--a book which allowed the artist to recognize herself for the first time. In the excerpt presented, Halberstam describes the all-too-familiar “bathroom problem” in which those “who don't present within a rigid gender binary system” encounter embarrassing, awkward, or hostile interactions in public restrooms.
