Copa’r Wyddfa: The summit of Snowdon: Yr ydych chwi, yma, Here, you are Yn nes at y nefoedd. nearer to Heaven.
Y mae aeonau o greu The rocks record Yn y creigiau hyn. the aeons of creation
Ein tasg ni ydi It’s our duty Gwarchod y gogoniant hwn. to guard this glory.
Edrychwch a gwelwch Here you will see Ryferthwy a heddwch tempests and tranquillity Eryri.
O’n cwmpas ni y mae All around us Camp a gwae are the grandeur and the anguish Hen, hen genedl. of an old, old nation
Odes to Snowdon

This poem is etched on to the windows of the summit building
Once on a plaque at the (former) summit building (and now lost) -
Grwydryn, aros ennyd; ystyra ryfeddol waith Duw a’th daith fer ar y ddaear hon.
‘Wanderer, wait a moment; consider God’s wondrous work and your short journey on this earth.’

Some call it Lobscouse and Some call it Cawl. If we can’t agree on the name, we can all agree on one thing, lobscouse or cawl is the perfect stew on a cold winter's day. Gwyn Thomas, a shepherd and farmer in Wales, taught us his mother’s recipe for lobscouse. Lobscouse is a simple stew made from meat and seasonal root vegetables. The stew is considered a perpetual stew and is made to last for days. There is no exact recipe or vegetables that are necessary, but instead, you make the stew based upon what meat and vegetables are available and in season. To watch the film about Gwyn’s legacy as a shepherd in the Mountains of Snowdonia scroll to the bottom!
