These days, most well-educated voice teachers understand the importance and function of the vocal folds, but they often lack in their understanding of the role that breath pressure plays in our vocal strength and vocal health. Throughout history breathwork has been regarded as an integral aspect of fitness; these days however, "health" and "exercise" are concepts that tend to focus more on outward appearance than on actual efficient function of muscles and organs. Qigong is ONE way of remedying this problem, but it's not the only way. I strongly recommend #gyrokinesis and @foundationtraining (yes, I consider both of these to be even better than yoga) for anyone who wants to take control of both their health and their vocal strength. Of course, the @aapproach method itself also offers some very powerful strengthening exercises for the breathing-posture muscles, rapidly increasing vocal power, range, and longevity.
