If Danny had kids, do you think they might be ghost hybrids as well??
this is probably the best ask i’ve ever received in my whole life
i hope you’re ready because i’ve thought about this a lot. but my final answer is: a flimsy maybe. biologically speaking.
This is a great question because it brings into question genetics and as we know in the show danny’s ghost powers are directly linked to his genes.
first off, it depends on where in his dna he got the ‘ghost’ genes. if he got them everywhere, then yeah, his kids might have ghost powers. but since not all of his dna is passed to his offspring and it gets shuffled around anyway during the creation of his reproductive cells and during fertilization, some of his kids might have more ghost powers than others. They might even get completely different powers because of the genetic shuffling. They might have genetic disfigurements because we just don’t know how ghost genes act independent of each other, and most genes are cooperative. Danny might even be infertile because it never says specifically how his dna was altered.
since he has both a human and a ghost form, does he have two sets of dna? Does he have an extra chromosome? or is it just his present chromosomes were altered? biologically, if his dna was altered so much that he could appear as an entirely different being, he might not even be able to reproduce at all that way, because his dna wouldn’t be entirely compatible with either humans or ghosts (if ghosts can reproduce).
Anyways, if his dna just had some minor alterations here or there, if his genes were just replaced with different alleles, then his kids could plausibly inherit some of his ghost powers like they could inherit blue eyes. It also depends on whether or not ghost genes are dominant or recessive.
If his dna was changed in a dynamic, trans-species way in which his karyotype ‘got all rearranged’ like it says in the theme song, then he might not be able to reproduce at all.
