Facts About Hecate McLaggen
Hecate comes from the Villeneuve Family, one of the most traditional pureblood families of France. The Villeneuves are famous among wizards of Europe to be full of bon vivants who love art and have very eccentric habits. They went on the brink of bankruptcy and their salvation was an arrange a marriage between their older child, Hecate, the oldest son of the McLaggen Family, Tiberius, since it would be interesting for them to expand their influence in the continent.
As expected, the girl was sent to Beauxbatons. The McLaggen wanted her to go to Hogwarts, so she could be closer to Tiberius, but her father didn’t want to break the family tradition. She became quite popular in school, largely due to her talent on Charms and as the star of their prestigious choir. Hecate used her popularity to date as much as she could, regardless of gender or race, enjoying the freedom she had while miles away from her "relationship". However the rumors about her activities flew through the ocean and forced her transference to Hogwarts, where she was sorted on Ravenclaw.
Hecate became a McLaggen few months after graduation. It was one of the largest celebrations the wizarding world ever witnessed. She moved into the McLaggen manor in London, and applied for a teaching position at Hogwarts as form to be away from her husband’s family sight. Tiberius managed to make her lose this opportunity, since he believed she was more valuable under his eyes.
While Tiberius kept busy using the Hecate’s family connections to grow quick in the Ministry of Magic, she was engaged visiting the Muggle world, specializing in spells, and collecting extramarital cases. She always found a way to avoid pregnancy from her husband, despite strong pressure from his relatives, but the last thing she wanted was give an heir to him.
When Voldemort came to power, most of McLaggens ran away to Nantes to escape the war, only returned once the victory in the Battle of Hogwarts was announced. However Tiberius’ escapade was seen with terrible eyes for Kingsley Shacklebolt, the new minister of magic, he was resigned as unspeakable and sent to one of the Department of International Magical Cooperation, lost in a low profile section, making him to gradually losing influence within the ministry. With that, he started to pass more time at home, and the amount of time Hecate and Tiberius spend together only showed to them their marriage was failed right from the start. This was the last drop on their relationship, they are still married but only to keep the appearances
Hecate used that to her advantage and tried again to get a teaching position at Hogwarts. This time she got the job. Hecate began as music teacher and replacing Professor Flitwick when he was away to assist in Gringotts once in a while. It was around this time that she assumed the Frog Choir, revitalizing it by incorporating muggle music to the repertoire and turning the choir presentations in fantastic shows. This ensured the Hogwarts the first European Magical Choir championship in 60 years. When Flitwick retired two years later, Hecate took not only Charm classes, but also became the Head of Ravenclaw.
Her biggest virtue as teacher is encourage students to think beyond what is shown in the books and coming out of their comfort zones while her biggest flaw is be quite demanding with homework and talk too much when she gets excited about a subject.
She is quite puzzled by the Hogwarts Rejects and is in favor to have them in the castle to give them this unique shot.
