‘Do you want another blanket?’
‘Yes please, I’m so freaking cold.’
‘The meds should kick in soon and then you’ll feel better a little.’
‘I’ll feel better when you finally come here.’
‘A moment please!’ laughed Yamaguchi as he walked back to the living room, a big and fluffy blanket resting in his arms. ‘I got the one with the barosaurus’.’
‘And this is why I love you.’ lifted his head up Tsukishima with a tired smile, his raspy voice full of love. Yamaguchi smiled back at him, gently folding the blanket out and placing it on his sick boyfriend, who as an answer moved away a little, indicating that he wished for Yamaguchi to climb next to him on the couch. And how could Yams refuse his partner's pleading eyes, waiting for his hug? So the other man climbed under the blankets too and wrapped his arms around Tsukki who buried his face into Yamaguchi’s chest.
‘How’re you feeling?’ asked Yamaguchi putting his hands against the blonde’s forehead about the millionth time that day, but Tsukishima leaned into the touch with the same relief. He hated to admit it but he was so touch starved all his life and now when he had permission to get everything from Yamaguchi, he couldn’t get enough. His sickness made him even clingier as if his partner was the only medicine for every one of his problems.
‘Like shit.’ answered Tsukishima, face still buried into Yamaguchi’s shirt.
‘Your fever hasn’t gotten worse, so that’s good. But we’re slowly running out of candy for your throat, I should buy soon a new pack.’
‘Don’t leave me…’
The hug tightened around Yamaguchi’s waist and the smaller man softly chuckled and patted Tsukki’s damp hair.
‘I didn’t say I’d go right now silly. I’m probably gonna do it tomorrow since I have to buy some food as well.’
‘Hm, alright… But don’t leave me, okay? Never.’
‘I’d never do such a thing. I love you Kei.’
‘You promise?’
‘I promise.’
A faint smile sat on Yamaguchi’s face as he pressed a kiss on his boyfriend’s head. He didn’t even care that he could get sick from him, hell he probably was going to catch his cold, but Yamaguchi wanted to shower his love with affection. He knew how emotional could Tsukki get from fevers, and he had the luck to experience this case since their childhood numerous times. Tsukishima even confessed his feelings for him when he was helping him to get home after he came down with a high fever during practice. His hazy and lovesick eyes were a sight he won’t ever forget.
‘I… I know I can be really rude and mean, even to you Tadashi, but… But I love you and I don’t want you to leave me…’
‘Oh love, I would never leave you because of this. We’ve been friends since we were little kids, I know your personality better than everyone and I choose to love you like this.’
‘Tadashi…’
Tsukishima was now looking up at him with teary eyes and a messy nose, the fever getting the best of him and Yamaguchi’s kind words were the last straw. Tears started to roll down his cheeks and pressed his messy face to his boyfriend's neck, who could feel the fluids wetting his skin and quickly reached for a tissue.
‘I love you so much Tadashi, I really don’t deserve you…’
‘Oh, don’t say that, I love you too. Now please turn your head this way a little, you’re soaking my shirt.’
After a loud round of nose blowing, an accidentally triggered coughing fit and more loving soft words, Tsukki finally calmed down. The medicine and crying took out a lot of his energy so now he was laying on Yamaguchi’s chest, completely leaning into the other boy’s touch, legs, and hands wrapped in an unbelievable maze under the blankets. Tsukki quietly yawned, his hot breath tickling Yamaguchi’s skin.
‘Want to take a nap?’
‘Mhm.’
‘Good idea, you’ll get better much sooner if you sleep a lot. And I could use some rest too.’
Tsukki snuggled closer to his boyfriend, feeling completely safe and loved in his arms.
‘Good night Tadashi…’
‘Good night Kei.’
