never underestimate Douglas Adams' power of simile like "the Vogons are not above a little bribery and corruption in the same way the sea is not above the clouds" is objectively fantastic why do I even try

Honestly, I am VERY surprised by the extent to which some niche fandoms typically consist of a split between ultra-queer dudes/dudesses and fifty-year-old guys who first discovered the book/movie/series back in their childhood and never parted with it (or just fifty-year-old guys who just find it and fell in love with it)
hhgttg's 2005 movie and asoue 2004 movie are the same to me:
movies that i like and enjoy so much (and i still do to this day) i sought out the original source material (hhgttg took longer given it was a radio series and i legit at the find could only find the complete first series and parts of the later series before giving up), and while i see their flaws as adaptations (which after seeking the og source i can see are clear as day and i go 'WHY'), i will defend elements of the two movies they did right/made so creativity it works.
