This is one of his 'stereo paintings' - a consciously-created optical illusion which he explains how to access here, in his 1951 statement on painting.
I can never get these to work for me, but I enjoyed his encouragement for those, like me, for whom this illusion is elusive:
"If you should not succeed at first, don't feel discouraged. Perhaps at another time you will succeed. You are only postponing the moment of your discovery and joy. You still have it ahead of you."
