I watched Love, Simon yesterday and I still have feelings about it. You know, that type of good and warm energy that wraps your heart like a blanket.
Oh, it’s such a well made movie. I love the writing, the music, the supporting cast and the direction it heads. I love it how it’s a coming-of-age movie that is some how not demonized by all the sex craze that’s often shown in teen movies. It deals with real life struggles, like maintaining “a good image” of yourself, trying to fit in, facing with intense emotions and just embracing who you really are.
It teaches me how to be a good friend and a supportive family member. It shows me that even when our world is still populated by jerks and bullies, good people do exist. And all you have to do is to reach out. You are, indeed, surrounded with lights. You don’t have to be alone. Maybe you are not aware that you yourself is a source of light. You may not realize that you can affect other people, that you can shine on them, with the little things you do, with kindness.
This movie makes me want to believe in love. It makes me want to believe that there is someone out there for me. It encourages me to be ok with my sexuality. I am so happy that this movie exists.
