Honest Product Reviews...
Today...we’re talking about Habitrol.
The Habitrol lozenges are a tad thinner and less “sturdy” for lack of a better word than...say...the Walgreen’s, Kroger or Rite Aid lozenges. Habitrol has a taste that is reminiscent of Vick’s mentholated rub. There’s also a weird little sliver that’s leftover when you keep these in your mouth for a while.
Pros:
1. Has nicotine
2. Handy and easy to keep track of in the blister packs.
3. Lots of product for the money.
4. Keeps your breath menthol fresh
5. Sugar Free
Cons
1. Tastes like you just did a shot of Rumple Minze and washed it down with a Fresh Mint Listerine Chaser
2. Made me a little nauseous (maybe that’s a pro?)
3. Has a weird little sliver of...I don’t know...whatever it was...in the center
4. Made me miss Walgreen’s Sugar Free lozenges
5. They melt away pretty quickly. I prefer to hang onto the lozenge for a while...and contemplate the impact of my poor life choices when using them. They’re thinner...so that means less time for regrets and self loathing.
It beats smoking or using alternative tobacco products. It really knocks down the craving for nicotine...and if you have a stuffy nose or have to embalm a body...that minty smell/taste will probably minimize that congestion and keep you from smelling that full on cadaver waft? (Pure speculation...but I feel confident in that claim.)
In a pinch...buy it. Use it. Stop smoking or chewing tobacco. Your family and friends probably love you and want to keep you around for a while. And...even though it smells and tastes like a leprechaun’s armpits...it’s still better than rancid tobacco breath. Right?
Day Six. This is much easier when I’m not in nicotine withdrawal. Shocking.
Journey to Quitting Cigarettes
Quitting smoking is a very difficult task and I can tell you this based off of first hand experience as I have only recently been able to quit cigarettes. There are some smokers who went cold turkey and quit without using any supplements, I could only imagine how much pain they went through while going cold turkey. I for one, could never go cold turkey. I have smoked for over 10 years and I knew it was time for me to stop. I read a lot of articles on Google and sites like StumbleUpon, hoping I could get some guidance and information on how I could successfully quit smoking cigarettes. Naturally, some of the first things that came up included Nicorette gum and nicotine patches. The Nicorette gum was a bit expensive but I was able to get some free samples from them (not sure if they're still offering free samples but you could always check on their site). The sample came with two pieces and I tried it out for the first time. The gum made my throat itch and feel really uncomfortable and I did not see this as a viable way of quitting cigarettes. I have tried patches in the past, and have quit successfully for about two weeks, but when I ran out of patches, I found myself smoking again. I decided to buy more patches and commit to it this time. They cost a little over a dollar per piece, which means for a 24 hour period, you're spending a little over a dollar. This is still way cheaper than smoking cigarettes. I went with Habitrol's 21mg nicotine patches. At first, I found that I couldn't fall asleep at night with the patch on, and I went on for two days like this and I felt terrible. I browsed some forums and it appeared that there were other people experiencing the same issue and they recommended that you remove the patch an hour prior to sleeping. So that is what I did. As soon as I woke up however, I wanted a cigarette really badly and ended up smoking that cigarette anyway. I still found myself craving a cig from time to time, but not as frequently as before. In addition to the nicotine patches, to finally seal the deal, I used electronic hookah pens (I used Fantasia e hookah). These nicotine-free hookah pens made me feel like I was smoking and along with the nicotine patches, I stopped smoking altogether. The reason why I used nicotine patches and e hookah pens together is because they say that when you vaporize liquid nicotine, it deposits more chemicals in your lungs than you think and the safe way to go is use nicotine-free. Because I still needed the nicotine, I used the patches which is a safer way to put nicotine into my body.
Quitting Smoking
Today is day two of being on a Habitrol nicotine patch. I don't have cravings for a cigarette. Though I do get cravings for munchies like crunchy cheetos and crackers. I describe the feeling as ''itchy teeth''. I know thats weird. But its better than cancer! -Bee
