It was a usual night of patrol for Danny. Checking for any unusual ghost business. It was getting late and he was flying around for maybe the fifth time. He did bump into someone though, and it was someone he rather not bump into.
“What are you doing around here, Vlad?” Danny asked, glaring.
“Ah, Daniel. It's such a lovely night for a flight, don't you think?” Vlad said, looking up at the night sky.
Danny rolled his eyes. “You're not planning anything, are you?” Danny asked.
“Oh please. I don't center my attention around you all the time, dear boy.” Vlad said. Danny scoffed at that.
“You didn't answer me. What are you doing here? I doubt it you're here just for a midnight flight.” Danny said, folding his arms.
“Well, maybe I am. I don't really have to answer to you, Daniel. If anything, you should be answering to me. Don't get so high and mighty of yourself, boy.” Vlad said, sneering down at Danny.
“Well, this is my town so if you're here then you must be up to no good.” Danny said, glaring back as his eyes glowed a brief green.
Now Vlad scoffed this time, shaking his head. “Must we do the whole hero/villain routine? Is it too much to ask of you to believe me just this once?”
“You're a liar, Vlad. You always lie so yeah, it is a bit hard for me to believe anything you say.” Danny said, frowning.
“This, coming from the boy who refuses to tell his own dimwitted parents about his powers? Don't call me a liar if you're one too, Daniel.” Vlad backfired, smirking.
Danny growled, balling his fists up. “You listen here, Plasmius. I'm gonna make it clear I don't want you anywhere near here. So, if I have to blast an ectobeam to your face to make it clear, then I will-!”
Vlad wasn't listening to Danny's little rant though. He noticed something from afar. A red dot on Danny's shoulder. He glanced behind Danny and saw figures hiding in the dark. He heard a soft whirring of a gun and Vlad quickly acted fast.
“Look out!” He warned and shoved Danny away.
A shot was fired and Vlad got hit, going tumbling down and crashing on a rooftop. Danny was almost flipping in the air after being shoved. He steadied himself and saw Vlad's unconscious body. He gasped, seeing even a trail of ectoplasm bleeding from Vlad.
Danny looked around to see who was attacking. The figures stepped out of the darkness, armed with large ghost-fighting guns. Danny saw them under the streetlamp and cursed.
“Shit, GIWs.” He muttered.
They were distracted, recharging their weapons. Danny had a chance to escape and fly back to his bedroom. He started to go, but he stopped. He turned back to Vlad and bit his lower lip.
“I can't leave him there...” Danny whispered.
He glanced over at the GIW agents, and back to Vlad. Danny groaned in frustration and quickly flew over to Vlad. He bent down, trying to carry Vlad. Danny squirmed when he felt some of the ectoplasm bleeding from Vlad.
“Ugh dude, you're heavy...” Danny grumbled, trying his best to carry Vlad on his back.
He flew up, eying the ground. The GIW agents had their weapons ready again and they were aiming at both of them. Thinking fast, Danny pointed his finger and shot an ectobeam at the streetlamp, breaking it.
He flew away with Vlad on his back, trying to find somewhere to help the wounded older man.
Cut to a few hours later, Vlad felt himself waking up. He was expecting to be a room of white, surrounded by those awful agents. Instead, he was in a rather dank, dark room with something wrapped around his torso and Danny hovering over him, wiping his brow with tissues.
“Daniel...?” Vlad weakly said.
“Hey jackass.” Danny said, looking down at him as he threw away the used tissues.
“Where are we?” Vlad asked, looking around. “And why does it smell like fish around here?”
“Uh, well. One, you're seriously heavy and two, we're by the docks and this was the only place I can find at short notice. It's some warehouse where they would keep the fishes to bring to the marketplace.” Danny answered.
“Ah, well. How sanitary.” Vlad said sarcastically.
“Hey, cut me some slack. I had to drag your dead body almost half-way across town.” Danny said, frowning.
Vlad rolled his eyes. “You patched me up?” He asked, touching around his torso.
“Kind of. I couldn't find any bandages or anything, so I used some cloth I found. It helped stopped the bleeding though.” Danny said.
Vlad frowned, moving his hand away from his torso. “You didn't have to do this.” He muttered.
“Hey, you may be a jerk but it's not like I was gonna leave you there for creepy government people to take you away and poke needles at you.” Danny said, folding his legs.
“And, well, you did save me...” Danny mumbled, shyly looking away.
“Well, you may be a jerk but it wasn't like I was going to let you be easy prey to those kind of people.” Vlad said, smirking.
“Hey, I'm not a jerk!” Danny exclaimed, frowning at Vlad.
“No, you're right. You're a brat, that's the word I should of used.” Vlad said.
Danny scoffed and smacked Vlad's arm. Vlad chuckled, smiling. He groaned though, still feeling weak from that shot. Danny frowned, fidgeting a bit.
“Should I go and find a first-aid kit for you?” He asked.
“No, it's fine. It'll heal, it's just going to take a while.” Vlad said, laying his head back down.
“Just, if it's not too much trouble, would you...stay with me?” Vlad asked.
Danny blushed and looked away. He plucked some of the dirt from the ground. He nodded. “Yeah sure, loser.” He said.
Vlad let the insult slide, and he hid a small smile. He closed his eyes, letting out a sigh. Danny glanced over at Vlad.
“Were you here because those GIW agents were hunting you?” Danny asked quietly.
Vlad didn't answer, just gave a small shrug. Danny narrowed his eyes at him. That must have been it, and knowing how prideful Vlad can be sometimes, admitting something like that to him...well, it's no wonder he was acting suspicious earlier.
Danny sighed, leaning back a bit. He listened to Vlad's slow breathing in the quiet warehouse. His nose did wrinkle at the scent of fish though. Maybe he should of found a better place for them to hide out.
Danny slowly moved his hand to lay on top of Vlad's. Vlad felt himself flinch a bit from the touch, but he relaxed. He flipped his hand over to hold Danny's. Danny looked away, his face blushing again.
