wonderful news: On the twenty fifth of November, a new species of bee was discovered in Bremer Range of western California. It is called the Megachile Lucifer (Hackeriapis), and is the first new Megachile (Leafcutter bee genus) to be discovered in twenty years.
They are named for the small horns on the heads of the females. They were discovered while Doctor Kit Prendergast was studying Marianthus aquilonarius, an endangered wildflower.
