Opinion on bees

I love bees so much bro- I would scoop them up with my hands and give em a smooch if there were any in my area

You’re so right, they have some insanely high quality plushies despite not being a plushie company at all! In my time on this account I think I’ve posted all the really popular ones but there are sooooooo many more great ones. Good suggestion, this way we can show off all the lesser known cuties!

hello! i am curious to know your favourite bee fact! - a fellow creature

Hiya!! That’s a hard question, there are so many incredibly interesting things about bees and I haven’t had much time to research lately due to school :(

I can’t garuntee I haven’t already posted or reposted about these beauties before but…

My favorite fact to tell people is that we lost the largest bee, Wallace’s giant bee, for decades. Not just once, but twice! It’s not even widely considered endangered-only vulnerable. I like it because it means there are so many more bees and bugs out there to discover, and I love knowing there are even more bees.

My favorite overall fact or like set of facts is just all of the adaptations of the arctic bumblebee. They’re so interesting, they can vibrate their wing muscles to increase their body temperature by about 60 Fahrenheit or about 15 Celsius above outside temperatures. This is extremely important since they have to be like 85 degrees Fahrenheit to fly. They’re also significantly fuzzier than other bumblebees to help keep heat, and have adapted to use certain flowers as like magnifying glasses to warm the using the sun during the day! This means, despite living in the northern most regions of any bees, they’re still able to start their life cycle in spring!

I really need to start reading more about bees again, researching just to make sure I wasn’t making this up was so much fun :3

wonderful news: On the twenty fifth of November, a new species of bee was discovered in Bremer Range of western California. It is called the Megachile Lucifer (Hackeriapis), and is the first new Megachile (Leafcutter bee genus) to be discovered in twenty years.

They are named for the small horns on the heads of the females. They were discovered while Doctor Kit Prendergast was studying Marianthus aquilonarius, an endangered wildflower.

I’ve been in love with these bees that are crazy about the thistle growing near the shop. You can get super close to them and they don’t seem to care.

Maybe its just the season. Sometimes when it cools down the bees and wasps out here get a little goofy.

Trying to figure out if they’re carpenter bees or yellow faced bumblebees.
