The official website of the UK Conservative Party
Since the usual suspects in the press are so committed to talking about tuition fees, could they tell the British public what the Tories said about tuition fees in 2003?
It's easy enough to find on an archived version of their website...
BRANGELINA SPLIT LATEST
Nobody knows the details, but that’s not going to stop them tripping over each other making up whatever story they like in the hope they accidentally get a scoop
Some simple facts for irensmusings
Last night I made a posting about the Britain First recruitment ad that the BBC showed on the Six O’Clock News and I was going to leave it at that before going back to...whatever the hell it is I actually do around here.
Until I checked the notes for the piece.
On the plus side, for once hovering the mouse over the profile of those responsible for said notes didn’t give me an eyeful of porn gifs as happens with depressing regularity on Tumblr...but on the other hand it transpires that another Tumblr user has decided to reblog the piece with some snide commentary at the bottom of it.
It is this snide commentary that I will be deconstructing for the reading pleasure of all six people who ever read this post.
Clearly, you and I have not been watching the same news... For an opening gambit, this immediately justifies my previous use of the term “snide commentary” - partly because this sort of line is both condescending and antagonistic for the sake of it, but mainly because the most cursory check of irensmusings’ profile exposes this comment as being utterly redundant: we could not have been watching the same news due to the fact that I was in the UK watching the 6 O’Clock News on BBC One, while they were in Bulgaria not watching it due to the minor inconvenience of BBC One not being Bulgarian channel.
As they had not watched the report in question, one which focused entirely on the migrant aspect of the story and nothing else, they are hardly in a credible position to comment one way or the other. This is also why I don’t make blind guesses about the quality of journalism on BNT 1′s flagship news programming.
Up until yesterday they had identified 31 out of the 1000 rapists. 18 of those 31 are factually proven to be refugees Which is exactly what I said in the first place, complete with a link to an article in the New York Times as a source, thus rendering this entire section of their response redundant due to their repeating something I already said.
More than anything else, repeating what I said does far more to undermine their position than it does to weaken mine, as it exposes the fact that non-migrants were responsible, yet this aspect has been overlooked in the media as it does not fit with the narrative the news vendors are writing.
18 of those 31 are factually proven to be refugees, which is about 60%. There is your basic maths! Anyone with a basic understanding of mathematics knows that 18 is 1.8% of 1000, so pulling a figure of 60% from a place where it is neither hygienic or sanitary to pull a percentage out of is blatantly misleading...or should I say that it is twisting the truth and/or omitting facts to have the story fit their narrative?
Some simple mathematics for the BBC
It was reported that a gang of up to 1000 men were responsible for a string of sexual assaults in Cologne on New Year’s Eve Of that group, 18 of them have been identified as asylum seekers This means that 982 of them were not
When the vast majority of those involved have not been identified as migrants, making the entire report about migrants in Germany - as the 8th January edition of Six O’Clock News did - is irresponsible, inflammatory, and the sort of thing that the boneheads at Britain First will and the sort of thing that the boneheads at Britain First will rapidly seize upon.
Congratulations to the #BulovaCode contest winner Alex Jeffries (left), who cracked the code and got to attend the White House Down premiere in NYC.
