I’m incredibly proud to share this project. The Beit HaTfuzot @anumuseum , the biggest Jewish museum in the world, is reopening this week. About a year ago, Orit shacha Gover approached me and told me about the re-establishment of the Beit HaTfuzot - after almost 10 years of investment, she created this exciting exhibition that is flowing with creativity from all directions. I’m honored to have the opportunity to take part in this project with so many great and young artists and that I was able to create an impactful image in which sitting at one table are - The Ba’al Shem Tov and the Vilna Gaon, two great geniuses of their generation, each in their own right. What is really touching about this project is that there has never been a picture of the Baal Shem Tov and there hasn’t been any way to commemorate/memorialize/immortalize. So, Orit approached me and asked me to draw him from my own imagination. As a great admirer, I drew the first thing that came to my mind and next to him the Vilna Gaon, each one reflecting their birth place. I highly recommend that everyone visits the Beit HaTfuzot in Tel Aviv. You can get stuck there an entire day and be endlessly inspired. השבוע נפתח @anumuseum מויזאון בית התפוצות. הלא הוא מוזיאון היהדות הגדול בעולם. לפני כשנה פנתה אלי אורית גובר וסיפרה לי על ההקמה מחדש של בית התפוצות- לאחר השקעה של 10 שנה כמעט שהיא יוצרת את התערוכה המרגשת והשופעת יצירתיוית מכל כיוון. עם הרבה אמנים גדולים וגם צעירים שאני מאד מעריץ זכיתי לקחת חלק ולצייר ציור מרגש שבו יושבים בשולחן אחד - הבעל שם טוב (הבעשט) והגאון מוילנה. שני גאוני דור אדירים כל אחד מצדו. מה שמרגש זה שלא הייתה מעולם תמונה של הגאון מוילנה ולא היה איך להנציח אותו אז פנתה אלי אורית וביקשה ממני לצייר אותו לפי דמיוני. ואני (בתור מעריץ ענק) ציירתי אותו לפי מי שיצא בפעם הראשונה ולידו את הגאון מוילנה שלכל אחד משתקפת עיר מולדתו. אני מאד ממליץ לכולם ללכת לבקר בבית התפוצות בתל אביב אפשר להתקע שם יום שלם ולהתרגש בלי סוף. #pilpeled #hagara #habaalshemtov #jewishart (at אנו - מוזיאון העם היהודי) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMucqkLDMT3/?igshid=1ob2o2lka30wd
